i didnt know what thread to post this in and i thought this would be a good one,i kno its in the movie fear and loathing in lasvegas buts its also on erowid.org is this real or a myth?,

it's real, but not in the sense as depicted in fear and loathing.

it's a byproduct of the decomposition of adrenaline, and a sort of endogenous hypertensive agent. nothing particularly psychedelic about it. (and the pineal gland doesn't produce it, but it may produce derivatives of certain psychedelic tryptamines)

that scene could, however, somewhat describe someone's bad DMT flash (though DMT isn't orally active by itself, and certainly not that small a dose)

if you can see that its on erowid then youd also be able to read what it is, as polymer said, metabolised adrenaline. in fact i think its just oxidised adrenaline. it has been found in high levels in people with schizophrenia however, and has thought to be both neurotoxic, and cancer-killing
