Sometimes, when I'm really stoned, I end up going under a bed or in a closet, and refuse to go back to light. Isn't that weird? Am I normal?
The last 2 times it happened were with my boyfriend Nick. The first time was at his house, and it was the first time we got high together, we had drunk a lot of wine and we smoked that pot that I had bought from this big, black guy in Central Park (for too much money and I regretted), pot from Arizona or whatever. Anyways, at first, I was just being a bit crazy, laughing and all. feeling more dizzy than usual because of the wine, but after 15 minutes with Nick on his bed, I fell on the floor and went under his bed. There I started to speak French (he told me), and refused to go back with him, I wanted to stay under the bed. He told me that I was saying stuff like "no, leave me alone I wanna stay in this cave!". A bit later, we went to an another room, and there I refused to stay on the bed with him, and I went on the floor again, and tried to go under the bed, again. But it didn't work because there wasn't enough room for me, and I started to cry and told Nick how much I wanted to go there!! It was crazy... And the last time, it was at my house, we had smoked some hash and after a little while I wanted to go under my bed again. Nick stopped me though.
And well, those aren't the only times... a few times before then I ended up going in my closet or turning off all the lights, or closing all the shutters in the house and getting under a blanket.
So... Am I the only freak who does that?

Hehe, don't feel too bad penny. I have a friend that always ends up sleeping in my closet whenever he crashes at my place. And one time when I was tripping on dxm I remember i somehow ended up in my closet for a while...
I like it 100% dark when I'm high.. but not cramped.. I need some freedom.

Penny I am kinda the same way, I like going into a corner and staring at it and think about it for a while. But sometimes I go into the dark and I see shadows and I think they are gonna get me, but thats if I'm just completly out of my mind baked.

hehe thats ok, it's good to be strange!
when people say to me "you're weird..." i reply with,
"it's not weird, dude, it's strange...."
I find that being strange is more complimentary than being weird... :D for some reason.

Well, when I do it, I guess I don't like to be in really big open places or around a lot of people. I prefer smaller, more private surroundings... maybe under the bed is just the place I've been looking for! Thanks, Penny! You're my hero!

Why shelters?
Seeking a shelter is one of our most primitive instincts. Caves have been our homes for the massively greater part of our civilization.Even when people (during the upper paleolithic age) were able to build encampments, caves were not completely abondoned for they created a good (cold, dark, humid, gloomy and dreamy) ambiance for the pagan rituals. We think that those hunter-gatherers had a great knowledge of nature (plants and herbs) including mushrooms that contain psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and many other “poisonous” plants and roots.
Anthropologists living among the contemporary hunter-gatherers in Africa and Australia have found out that in most pagan rituals the goal of the chief pagan is to contact that “high spirit” to seek some answers. Although we can never be sure why and how cave paintings have been made there are some theories. One of these suggests that the head of the pagans used to eat some herbs that help him slip into a transcendental mood where he saw the answers to the questions about the future games (which lead to paintings). Some scientists like Leroi-Gourhan say that the pictures of the games depicted have a dualist symbolism of men and women. According to him, Horses symbolize men where Bisons represent women. Some, (like Brevil) say that there is a distinction between animals that are of economic and religious importance. What ever the answer is, the fact is places like caves (dark gloomy n etc.) are “good” places for shelter. (Interested people check out Lascaux, Chauvette and Altamira caves in France and Spain)
How alcohol and hemp might have affected you?
Alcoholic drinks, affect the way our brain works (oh really?). With enough alcohol the cognitive and motor side of our brain (cortex, cerebellum, and hippocampus), gets relativelty less effective while our lower brain where our supressed instincts (sex, aggression, courage etc.) are stored, gains dominance. If we can assume that you, for some reason, feel insecure, vulnarable or have doubts about a new experience, we may say that it is the thing that makes your already-alcohol-agitated-instincts seek a shelter, a place over your head. Ofcourse, this is just a silly assumption, but you may give it a try by not combining alcohol and marijuana, or changing the order of the variables (insecure place+alcohol, hemp+alcohol+safe place, hemp+insecure place and etc.) Some behaviorist psychologists claim that when a football player misses a goal or when we feel unsecure or try to concentrate and isolate ourselves,we put our hands on the back of our head, creating a shelter (just like the emus) between us and the rest of the world that we think is against us.
From my own experience, when i smoke marijuana (especially where its illegal) I get paranoid. I think people are looking at me or narcs are chasing me and etc.
Maybe the thing that makes you seek a shelter is the paranoid mood that marijuana causes. Or maybe it is the alcohol that makes your instincts spring up or both.
I know it has been a lenghty post with plenty of useless info but I hope it can be of some use.

That is actually very interesting! Thanks for posting it...
Anyways, whether I'm weird or not... it doesn't really matter to me, as long as I'm not completely insane!! :)
