"Fish Out of Water"

I swim fast, as fast as a shark
in the middle of the atlantic at feeding time.
It was mid december and ice coated the streets of new york
We were frantic like fish out of water.
Every day we come together and meet in
the streets, but never do we look at eachother
I walk among them, but not with them.
When i slip and fall i must stay strong
cause no one is brave enough to take my hand
no no, that might mean they'll have to look in my eyes
or be late or fall themselves.

I wonder if people feel things the way i do
are we taught to hide our emotions away or we'll
be looked upon as weak sad happy alive?
Yes i walk among them, but i will never walk with them.
And if they fall i'll still pick them up dust them off
give them water or love. Inside they understand, really.
Crack open the outter shell and see whats hidden under the
layers of conformity selfishness, just scared little puppies
clinging to their masters the laws of society that say
trample on the weak to get where you are going,
and i'll always be the weak.

"You Me and a Flower"

Sometimes when a petal falls its
journey has just begun.
It blows through the grass, onto your shoulder
then to the sky to enjoy the view.
Sure it's color fades but the days still
stand before him. And the wind still comes and birds still feed
and fruit still grows around us.
I can stay as long as time will let me
If the trees will still be my friends.

A page of paper with ink spread across it
now becomes a bed of roses.
If you look hard enough you can see the petals blowing
and smell the scent the flower gives to the air
as a gift to the watcher.

The stem is sturdy thick and green
pointing toward the sun.
Their friendship is unmatched by human life
unless that human turns into the flower
Then the meaning of love takes on a whole new power.

Sprinkle your water from heaven on me
and i'll glow magically to brighten up your cloudy day
in the green grass as you walk away.
Sometimes I feel like a lonely flower
sitting in the sun.
