I'm moving there in a year. So what can ya tell me about it? Is it expensive to live there? Is there a lot of gangs? Any good bars to work at?

There are many gangs that run in LA but Santa Monica is a nice area and quite expensive. You can find some great places with rent control but there is probably a long waiting list, as these apartments are in high demand. Lots of cute restaurants and tons of bars you can work at. It's a great place with great people and you should have lots of fun. The stereotype is quite true, LA people are pretentious so be forewarned. Still, you'll find some real, down to earth people thrown in the mix, mostly the L.A. locals who grew up there.
