although it was very commercial and on a very large scale lots of fun was had, and the amazing sight of the nighttime sky above the stonehenge was magical one i shall never forget.

was incredibly fun, if not a little scary at times (im sure you will agree kev????)oh yes it was rather an ordeal at times when at the festival proper, not helped at all by the fact i'd been greedy with the mushrooms and had disrespected the power of colombian funghi; much to the distress of my battered mind during a full two hour roller coaster of psychedelic sanity-terror.
I could see everyones skeletal structure and myriads of red,green,blue pixilated bubble points would osmose out of the darkness through a million aztec geometry carpet patterns at every opportunity. i thought my feet were gushing firey blood. hmmm, i will indeed respect the amount of mushrooms gobbled in future....
i much preferred my stay in the woods the day before. which, in hindsight, is the part i always look forward to at solstice time. the actual stonehenge bit has got rather too hectic with all sorts of nasty people as well as nice people. not even the hari-krishnas braved it this year.
the foresthere's a picture of when i stayed in the woods a few years ago, it's always the same one. A lovely old place south of the henge along the ancient processional way thats now an overgrown tractor trail. do you recognise the trees in the background from more recent pics?

In future i'm going to find a stone circle a way out in the Highlands of Scotland since the place is covered in them. And, I enjoy the countryside more than the event itself so why not go to one of the most beautiful places in Britain?
