Today is sri veda vyasas birthday, celebrated as guru poornima. On this day I offer my salutations to the entire guru sishya parampara, starting from lord siva, through to my own beloved Swami Tejomayananda.

sadashiva samarambham
shankaracharya madhyamam
asmadacharya paryantam
vande guru paramparam

meaning - Beginning with the eternal lord Siva, via Sri Adi Shankaracharya, finally to our own guru, I bow to the entire guru lineage.

May their grace descend upon us on this auspicious day.

Hari Om!

Guru Poornima, or "the festival dedicated to the guru", is observed largely in Northern India....but it's gaining in popularity in the South.

One performs pooja, which involves making a sacred fire or "homam" and then making offerings...and of course attention is paid to Lord Siva, the original Guru.....
