The Monkey Magic Appreciation Thread

I guess I'm just looking for assurance that there are others out there that think that Monkey or Monkey Magic is the greatest show ever contrived.
Its a late 70's early 80's Japanese Kung Fu show about the Monkey that came from the birth of the first thought and pissed off heaven with his arrogance, A fish sprit named Sandy, a Pig Monster called Pigsy (both cast out of heaven) and a suspiciously feminine boy priest called Tripitaka.
They journey through China facing all kinds of demons so they can go to India and fetch the Buddhist scriptures and bring Buddhism to China so they can all re enter heaven.
Bit of a mouthfu but a fantastic show that had a cult following in Australia and the UK. Americans weren't down with it :rolleyes: so it got cancelled in the U.S after only a few episodes.

Anyways I just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to voice their love for the show...

Wait echo, I love monkey....It is an Australian classic, i think we adopted it. I grew up watching it on weekdays as a kid, and i loved when it came back on at midday saturdays on channel 2 a few years ago. I can't wait for it to come on again, i don't remember it, i really know i'll appreciate it now.

We should petition channel 2 to drop Dr. Who and replace it with monkey.

Great series. The remake is now running in Japan.

Here's a little trivia for ya.... The monkey's actual name is Goku, and that's actually where the creator of Dragon Ball got the main character's name from. Notice they are both apes(Sayans pretty much are), and both ride on the magical cloud thing. Oh, and one can't forget about the ever-extendable rod they both carry(Goku in Dragon Ball carrys it in the early days). ;)

It was a girl actor playing a boy, Tripitaka's supposed to be asexual so I guess that was the plan to make that clear to everyone :confused:

No I dont own the single but if I had testicles...
