I'm sure I already told you :-O But for everyone else who doesn't know, has forgotten, or is too concerned with more important things to care, please allow me to ramble on for a while...

Quite a long while back on the Fender Discussion Page, a member posted saying he'd bought and finished reading a book and was anyone else interested in reading it? Eventually, a group of them decided it would be a good idea to send the book around via mail to everyone on the list of people who wanted to read it. Each person would recieve the book, read it, then sign inside the cover and send it to the next person, who would do the same. So in the end, it'd be a piece of FDP memrobilia.

I decided to steal...umm, borrow the idea. I posted in the books forum here ages ago asking about a suitable book to send around hipforums members. Of course, since I'm lazy as hell, it never got anywhere.

Anyway, I was planning on buying a cheap ass £15 guitar to take to Glastonbury in case I got bored. Then I heard that Giles would be there too, with his famous car...and that set off an idea in my mind. I could buy a cheapo guitar and a permanent marker, then get some luvly forumers to sign and/or decorate it - a Hipforums guitar!

Of course, me being me, I was too lazy to do this as well. Bloody good thing, too. I'd have hated having to carry a guitar along with the tent, sleeping bag and rucksack full of crap I didn't really need.

But now I'm feeling a whole less lazy, I might just try it this gathering...

Nope. I've already agreed to work a weekend to go in and do some mentoring in order to get two days off around the weekend of the gathering. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that they'll allow me to re-arrange that at such short notice. Not to mention the fact that I would aready have been in Yorkshire for the week leading up to it, and seeing as it's a six hour drive I'm not likely to head back there anytime soon.

i might not be able to make those dates either...i planned it all nicely so that i'd go to the gathering at the end of july, then faslane the first two weeks of august, then leeds fest, then beautiful days...and i can't make two trips to faslane...i was really hoping to stay there for a week or more...i'll have to cut one of them out...it seems pointless just going to faslane for 5 days to come back to go back to faslane again...

P.S Dok you make yorkshire sound like its the other end of the country mate lol. Well it bloody is when you work full time! A 6hr journey at either end of the trip means I'd have to book more time off. I'm not about to book more time off when the dates have changed once already. Sorry, but I just can't risk it. Working full time is a pain in the ass, and my holiday days are precious to me.

The intention was always to coincide the gathering with the visit from the BBC.

btw, on your website youve got pictues of doll tor, i had this book and it told me how to get to nine stones close and robinhoods stride and all that and it showed dor tor as being close but i just couldent find it. Was i near the place or not the book was very confuseing :p

Picking People up from near by train stations or just train stations in general should not be a problem.... i will be driving there and i'm sure me or claire (if she does not mind) can drive and pick who ever needs picking up.... there may be a small petrol fee as i'm very limited to cash at the mo.... it will only be a small fee though.... £1 mebbe :p

hmmmmm, i've noticed that there is increased talk of tents, now in the preparation thread maon(i think) said tents are banned and any1 with a tent will be stripped naked and beaten with birch. now as appealing as that sounds i would rather not have it done in a field surrounded by strangers. so do i bring a tent or not.

The way people were talking about drums etc about a month ago, I had the idea that someone would be bringing a load lol. I have a tambourine but what good is one tambourine:p all i use it for is when ime listening to Joni Mitchell or something and i feel like having a tap or two:)

I have a tambourine but what good is one tambourine:p if everyone brought one tambourine we could have a whole orchestra! the whole point is for each person to try to bring at least one thing each and then we have enough instruments to have crazy hippy fun! It might seem like one tambourine just now, but went teamed with a load of pan pipes made from straws and margarine tub drums we can produce one hell of a raquet! :D

I hope you're all having an amazing time. I wish I could be there, but alas I'm off to Oxford on Monday to begin my journey and I need to set my affairs in order this weekend. Just did my last shift at the King's Head last night, what a relief to be free and about to set off on the road! If by some chance I'm in the Illkley area at the time of the next gathering I'll make sure I pop by and see you guys. If not, I hope you have a great party! I may be able to make it to Beautiful Days still, so with any luck I'll see you all there....
