I just thought Id sure a poems I really adore.
by Don Blanding.

little history; Don was a pilot in the first world war. He wrote this book of poems in hopes that theirs messages might contribute to building moral and hopes for these days.

These Treasured Days

This world that we have known and loved may crash
As ruin heaps on ruin while world-madness reigns.
And there may be stark years of aftermath
And agony that marks a new birth's labor pains.
We can not see beyond the smoke of war;
The kings are gone.. their crowns are pawned for meager bread.
We falter in bewilderment.. and pray.

What WAS is not; what IS TO BE lies far ahead.

New patterns, new designs for life will come;
Our feet may stumble down dark unfamiliar ways;
Our hands, now full, may ache with emptiness
But, in our hearts, we'll hold these treasured days
These treasured days that all of us have lived,
Dear days, like coins that Fate can neither steal nor borrow.
A hoarded wealth of blessed memories
To strengthen us as we go go forth to meet tomorrow.

This is one of my favorite, what do ya think?
