Nothing speaks more eloquently about the nature of the ‘handover’ of sovereignty than its furtive and deceitful execution. More than two days before the due date, early on Monday morning, US colonial administrator Paul Bremer formally handed the country over to an Iraqi government which has no legitimacy to the Iraqi people.
