So who did you see? How much did they rock? :)
The football on Thursday was really good to watch I thought, not keen on big crowds I was worried how many bigger bands I'd actually get to see. But there was a great atmosphere and everyone was really lovely, so I'm glad I went down for it.
The first act I got round to seeing was PJ Harvey and she was fantastic. Not the biggest fan of hers but I'm not a huge fan of Polly live! After failing to find the Acoustic tent for Love I spent the rest of my Friday in the New Tent. First up Mark Gardener who'd I'd not heard of but wasn't bad at all.
The Bees followed and actually became the only band to actually see me dance. They were brilliant! The crowd was brilliant! They seem to really love playing live and we all loved them for it :) Much like Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club in the Acoustic area on Sunday.
I think I was the only forummer watching Spiritualized headline on Friday, plus with being in the one tent all night my ass was parked in the second row for them.
First view of Simple Kid came Saturday (Caught him again on Sunday after Jerry Fish) by that you can tell I'm a fan, Ellie said he reminded her of Beck and she was quite right, that kinda deal. Pissing with rain Keane came on after them and they brought the sun out which was nice.
Then while Aphex Twin was playing somewhere on site I was elsewhere watching Paul McCartney. Still don't know why I'm so sad, Macca was wonderful and I probably wouldn't have gone for DJ AFX anyway!
Don't recall much of Sunday morning, saw Tinariwen on the Jazz stage then headed for Fish & Kid. After walking from Acoustic to camp I couldn't be bothered watching James Brown in the rain, "if it was sunny" I told myself but I just wanted to laze about. Went to Belle & Sebastian later but they couldn't keep me on my feet for long so back to tent I travelled. They were good mind you, I'd of stayed if I had the energy.
Then, it was Orbital. And mesmerizing is the word that comes to mind there. I think Orbital's crowd was best atmosphere on the big stages I saw. Maybe if we were surround by other people at McCartney he'd of got it, but everywhere I ended up in Orbital people were dancing, juggleing, breathing fire, lighting flares...They just seemed more up for it, not that Macca's crowd was bad or anything.
:) They were the last act I saw, just realised. Heading back to camp I saw the firework finale at the stone circle which capped the lights of Orbital perfectly.
Top 3...
1. Macca
2. Orbital
3. The Bees
