Ok a question.... Who here has heard of Elizabeth Bathory? ;) just curious...

Of course, for a black metal fan she is a subject you'll be familiar with in no time!

Hers is a fascinating story, like her contemporary male collegue Vlad Tepes' is as well, though in both occasions we may doubt to what extent it is based on reality. I've heard versions of the tale in which Erzsebet is simply 'framed' by political rivals.

Yeah, I heard that version, too. I kind of doubt it, though.

I studied her many years ago. I never heard the story about her being "framed". Everything that I've read said that she pretty much got caught in the act. I studied serial killers when I was younger because I wanted to be an FBI profiler. There are some really twisted people out there.

I don't know if it was so much her being framed, but considering that the supposed blood baths she took happened in the 1500s, you can't really take her history word for word. Personally, though, I like to think its true, makes a kickass story. All in all I'm much more a fan of Vlad, who is looked upon with almost a reverence today in his native Romania.

A lot of it is legend. Things get exaggerated to make for a better story. But I would say at the very least that Elizabeth Bathory was a guilty serial killer.

Yes ...I agree. Anyhow, whether or not she was a serial killer, I think a lot of the story was deffinately over exaggerated. And hey I was not put back in her time...so I guess we'll never know the truth. Then again...what is truth?

Yes, she stayed beautiful by taking baths in blood. She had a serious lust for blood.
I believe there was an Italian film made based on the story.
