View Full Version : Lake Poem

The woods are like dark stone
wolfs cry to rising moon
In wilderness I watch alone
dawn is coming soon

Night is like a sinking sky
stars shine below my eyes
the lake reflects brilliant lies
this place seems so ancient and...so wise

Out here there are no voices
only wild sounds
out here there are no choices
only natures bounds

Watch the stars and heavens dance
Cutting through the dark unknown
how could we be alive by chance?
just look at what your shown

The water is like black glass
bottomless mirror by my side
nestled in cool wet grass
where in daylight it will hide

This was beautiful and a joy to read. Was this an actual lake that inspired this or is it just what you think a lake looks like at night

I came up with most of the words when I really was at a "lake" (more of a pond really) at night, but the poem was actually written later when I had some paper and a pencil. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, sure, no problem, man.
You're so lucky to live by a lake, let alone a pond.
There's nothing here but desert, and sure I have gotten some inspiration through that but the most of the desert is disguised with adultery, gamble, lies, and sexism.
Good ol' Sin City

Excellent poem man, I can see this being a song, with the third stanza as the chorus. I dunno, that really just suggested itself to me, it read like one. Good stuff bro

And MANW, i bet once you get away from the city the desert is a pretty place, especially at night, provided you're far enough away from the city to see them.

A desert disguised with adultery, gamble, lies, sexism and sins could make up so great poems man. Some of that stuff can go really deep.
