Temple hair?

I've always wondered why some Jews (orthodox, I assume) grow out the hair on their temples. What's the deal with that?

thanks dauer. I see lots of Jews at my job (well, not lots, but some) and sometimes wonder about these things. I guess while I'm asking questions, why do jews wear a skullcap?

Why wear a skullcap? Convention. Any head covering will do. But the history of covering the head by a man is a little bit more complicated than the answer to your first question. I'm going to link you again to this answer:
