No, I understand, you can have the 2-nitro-propene, version of 3,4-methylenedioxy benzene and use that reduction for MDA. In fact, there are many ways to use a mercuric amalgram in several reduction processes! I know all that shit, no need to argue, just be intelligent a little.

While mercuric chloride can perhaps be used in the preparation of methyamine (dunno), it's most common use is as a catalyst in the reductive allkylation of either MD-P2P to MDMA, or (far more unlikely) P2P to meth. Or perhaps for a mass poisoning! In any case, ordering is risky.
