YAY! We now have a Peace Fest 2005 Forum. It was created by I, Nathan. There is also a web-site about The Peace Festival, but it needs to be worked on.

I think we're going to have something here. I think that we could start something that will be the first of many great festivals, or a 2nd coming of the 60's revolution. Either way, we're on to something.

Seriously, my band would definitely travel to Ohio to play this event. How would we go about getting on the list of performers?

I posted this in the other Peace Fest thread on Hipforums but that was before I realized we had this one here. Sorry. I'm postin it again for people who didn't read it. I'm sure it's not that important of a breakthrough or anything....but hell, here it is. Also, I have relatives who own a conference ground in Ohio. Does anyone want me to check in on it? Like find out the available space/time/regulations things like that? My mom said it may be large enough for what we are planning....it has kitchens, cabins, things of that nature that I feel would be perfect for the volunteers and for guests. Also, ofcourse, there are the campsites,etc. I'll check into it if you want me to. Let me know. Loves.

"Okay.....So I'm just going to jot down real quick what I think the control topics should be....You know, like, the topics that certain people are going to work under....Tell me if I miss anything. Also, pretty much everyone has to work together at some point, the different areas and all that....BUT, only on a few aspects of ever topic. I also think there should be a team leader for every topic so that team leaders could converse with eachother on all plans, problems, etc.

1)Event location planning:
Put together a list of requirements for the event location, such as, how many people expected vs. acres/square feet; type of terrain vs. health/sanitation/security/weather problems; location vs. relevancy to the event itself.....does a certain location have a spiritual/historical meaning?... All those kinds of things. It's alot of work...Lol.
2)Sanitation/Food/Water:
That's self explanatory.
3)Music/soundstage/etc.:
We're certainly shooting for a certain type of music....SO, I think that whoever posted that idea about sending samples of the music and going over what can be expected/choosing who should be there, had a great idea.
4)Campsite manager:
How many people vs. size of campsite...any pricing information...rules on campfires/booze/etc. (work w/ security on that one). The rest is self-explanatory.
5)Product Vendor Mangagement:
Once again.....Self-Explanatory.
6)Security:
People who would be in charge of getting security information regarding the regulations of this kind of event....also, after attaining the said information, they could be the Peace Fest "Anti-Police" Security....not as a title, but in theoretical terms. You know what I mean, I hope.....Anyway....Also,in charge of basic rules for overall conduct.
7)This one is a maybe..... But a team of people who have other assignments as well, who could travel around and pick up the volunteers a couple days before the show until a couple days after for set-up/clean-up, etc.
8)Advertisement management....Ofcourse, EVERYONE will advertise but there should be a plan for when to release certain aspects of the Peace Fest details and how to go about it. Also, where the areas of advertisement should be...A main "logo" or "symbol" specifically designed for Peace Fest to be used and manipulated on all posters.......etc.
9)Volunteers to be placed where needed the most.

Oh yeah.... About the music. IF I get a band together ahead of time, I'll send you some samples or something. IF NOT and we can't find enough bands to fill the time slots......Then, if anyone plays acoustic guitar/drums/bass/etc. than join me and we'll play some oldies that we can figure out ahead of time....I think it would be fun to improvise. LOL. Otherwise, let me know anyway and we'll just get together at a campsite and play or something. Peace, Love, and Freedom.

I've got some web design skill nder my belt (not that I wear one lol), and I'd love to work on that site for you. I think this Peace Fest thing is a great idea. I dunno if I'll be able to make it to Ohio, likely not actually, but I'd love to help out in some way, and I can sure do some stuff for your site if you so desire.

this sounds like a great Idea, I was going to plan on in Canada acually, in the northern part of course, but with alot of un-called things came up in our community I was forced to hold out on the plans for awhile. I am also intrested on getting on the Bill (Concert Performers Bill) You must know they whole thing about Hippys wanting to be like the Indians right, with their free way of thought living off the earth and believing in youself and others. Well why not get my band, Im sure there are alot of Native Rock bands out there, but why not get one that ROX HARD if anyone wants to visit our site its at friendly-fire.ca its under construction at this time but you are able to get our sound waves that are available.

I think a lot of it is the mentality.

Like, the mentality that everyone should be free to do whatever they want to do, be whatever they want to be, just so long as they don't hurt anyone.

Yeah, that makes since to me, but, aren't all phyilosophies mental? I mean, I guess I don't exaclty understand your point. I mean, what you described is is my main beliefe. Just, religion comes into play in SO many people, so they all disagree about freedom. We CANT have TOO much freedom or else we all go to hell, right? :ack:

I just think that's the main hippy philosophy, the whole freedom and non-violence thing. The clothes, the old music, and the pot doesn't make a hippy, the philosohy is what defines the counter-culture.

As for the hell thing, I chose to ignore it, if it exists at all. IMHO, not being bad because you might go to hell is just like not stepping outdoors because a bird might poo on your head.

I'm thinking waaaaaaaaaaay too hard. Post Dehydration Stress?
