Is it better or worse for the medical marijuana card holders to let the local police know of their status?
If the plice get a report of pot growing and go to a car holder's address to check it out, would it better to already have the grower on file and be informed that the grower has a serious illness and be careful not to traumatize him or her? Or are the police usually nasty to the card holders?

Don't let them know. Just make sure if you DO get busted, you have the proper evidence of being a legit medpot patient.

I think I can't keep any pot around then, even though this disabled person has a card. If I'm not around I can't risk a police misunderstanding because she isn't able to communicate well and the police might want to restrict her while they look over the documents. Maybe they would hurt her because they feel threatened.
Even if, later, it was shown that the police were wrong, the damage would be done. She would never get over being handcuffed and manhandled. I hate these drug laws!

Well you should still feel fortunate that you have a compassionate state gov't. Unlike my state and most of the other US states. Keep the weed/plants in a single room, with the license hanging up in plain view.

in Colorado, the law enforcement gets a list of card issues (less than 400 in the state last time I checked).

Drum, I was told that the some of the police have friends they wi;; tip off that there is a valuable grow that would be easy to steal, so how risky is it to have the police know?
I wonder if people's garderns are getting ripped off more in Colorado than in other states.

You should take your card and license or whatever, frame it and nail it to the wall like someone above said
And then just pray for the best

In CA, at least one doctor regularly provides a "this marijuana is doctor approved" letter to be posted in the grow area.
To the original poster, I would ask at your local clinic. The attitude of the local police varies greatly. Local NORML offices might be another source of information.
