Used to be. I spent 12 years in Humboldt, most in the southern part around Garberville and Redway.

I moved to Arcata last year. I like it so much better than Southern California, even the rain. This is the first small town I've lived in--I like the slower pace. People are usually very friendly, too.

Rents are cheaper than in Orange County or San Diego, but still kind of high for a small town in the middle of nowhere. I could get a place for less in Portland, for example.

I think this is a pretty cool idea, although I hope it's not going to end up being too expensive for the average hippie or hosteler.

in a year or two i'll be living in humboldt....maybe around arcata or just outside of it...i'm used to being isolated in the boonies so being far out doesnt bother me :D
