Many leaves are missing,
Since my last visit.
That tree is hardly alive,
Her branches sag like needles
Playing invisible records,
Tracing circles in the sand.
Amidst the flags of plastic and debris,
I tend to your deserted grave.
Fascinated by the thirst of your chamber.
I offer dates and sweets,
To the begging children
Who pray dramatically for your peace.
Kindling my sympathy with their intelligent faces
I let out a laugh, like bubbles, a few more escape
They step away from me in awe
Only I know,
You never prayed a day in your whole life.
Since my last visit.
That tree is hardly alive,
Her branches sag like needles
Playing invisible records,
Tracing circles in the sand.
Amidst the flags of plastic and debris,
I tend to your deserted grave.
Fascinated by the thirst of your chamber.
I offer dates and sweets,
To the begging children
Who pray dramatically for your peace.
Kindling my sympathy with their intelligent faces
I let out a laugh, like bubbles, a few more escape
They step away from me in awe
Only I know,
You never prayed a day in your whole life.
