Regret learning past lives?

Howdy there-
Curious if anyone regretted learning about their past lives, I mean, it is all over and done with-time to move on, but does knowing what happened in other lives ever have negative effects on your present? I've been getting more and more curious about mine, one little flicker I've seen of one life specifically, but I'm not too sure if I really want to know, since what I saw had an emotional impact that didn't match what I saw. Used to know a guy that I'm fairly sure I knew then, but when I started to ask him if he knew or felt anything he interuppted and asked that I never mention that to him again, so it isn't 'real'. He stopped me before I said anything specific, I only asked if he thought we'd known each other before. If it bothered him that much, I'm guessing there's something more to it than I've seen, but since it bothered him so much I'm not sure if I really want to know. Five lifetimes from now my imaginary friends (guides, but they prefer to be imaginary friends) said I'd see him again, so we're bound into something, somehow... Is there a way to tell if you're ready to know?
