This is a poem I wrote earlier today, and I just thought I'd share it...
It's called 'Shot Down In Baghdad'
'Daddy, daddy, where has mother gone?'
Dare he tell the child the gruesome tale?
She was shot down and murdered
By American Troops
Our so-called 'heroes'
She was innocent, a mere civilian
Slaughtered unjustly in the streets of Baghdad
As 100,000 share her fate
We sit in silent compliance
As our leaders chant, chant
"War is Peace, War is Peace"
As they continue to send more off
To kill and be killed
In a senseless battle
Why do we sit so silent?
Are human lives not important enough?
Will we continue to comply,
With this brutal slaughter?
I fear too many will
When we should instead
Rise up and fight
These warmongers
These murderers
And free Iraq
From these American oppressors.
