Wow, so far it looks like I was oldest. I didn't smoke at all until I was 20. Of course, I didn't drink until I was 19. It wasn't that I didn't want to smoke. But I kept putting it off. Eventually one of my good friends -- very hippie himself -- told me that I should really stop putting it off and try it.

I spent two months reading everything on it I could find (pro and con), talking to users, and considering how I would try it. We decided that I should probably eat first because I didn't smoke and it would be easier to take it one step at a time. Well, next thing you know I was a stoner. But it's all good. :o

He'd been smoking it for a couple of years by then, but I'd always had a built-in aversion to any type of 'drug' due to losing my brother to heroin when I was 16.

It mostly affected my motor skills but it was still a fun night and i woke up feeling soooo good!

I was born in 1967, Old Hippie Dave & I only just started smoking Weed when I was 37 years of age. I'd tried it when I was younger but it never did anything for me up until now.....Let me introduce myself, I am new to this board & I am a die-hard Hippie who loves to listen to bands like Jefferson Airplane, Mountain, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Marc Bolan, Ten Years After, Santana & Richie Havens. I wish I could have gone to Woodstock back in 69'. I'm interested in talking to any Hippies who could share their personal experiences of Woodstock & other great Rock Festivals of the 60's & 70's.

First when I was twelve... didn't start smoking a lot until I was 13. Just after I turned 14 I got a vaporizer, and have been happy as a clam since, with my lungs in perfect shape. :)

I THINK I was 15, but I might've been 16, not sure. But whenever it was, I haven't been the same since. It has changed my life in so many positive ways and I have never regretted it, even when I was kicked out of the army and two schools for smoking weed. High till I die, Smoke till I croak. hahahaha

The first time that I partook of the "wacky tobacy" was when I was in my dorm/suite room at Arizona State University (ASU), in 1973. I was 19 years old. Streaking was popular then! Unless, you count breathing in "second hand" pot smoke from the parties that I went to, in high school, then maybe 17 years old. Some of my High School friends were heavy-duty potheads.


I didn't "trip" on pot, until about a week later of heavy use. Then afterward, I would experience an endless flow of internal visions and scenes and consciousness. Quite heavenly!

I'm not suprised by the poll results on this thread. I would've predicted a large percentage, by the age of 14 years old. When I got home from college, to my small town in Michigan (above Ann Arbor), there was a 14-year old neighbor girl (2 doors over), who smoked cigarettes and pot, drank alcohol, and tripped on "mescaline" (really LSD) and "Crystal T" (really PHENCYCLIDINE). My small town, that I lived in then, was a horse-breeding area, so PCP (aka "horse tranquilizer", HOG, "rocket fuel" or "Crystal T") was plentiful (a 70's thing), but I only tried it a few times. It's too toxic for my tastes! I prefered pot!

Then months later, I took my first acid trip, with 4-way amber windowpane. That stuff was WAY TOO POWERFUL!!! But cool, in some ways. I felt more comfortable with pot "tripping".

haha i was in the backyard of my friends old condo which is across the street from where i live. a bunch of guys in the neighborhood talked me & my friend into smoking with them. i was like in 4th grade. we smoked orange kush and i was fucken lit. i remember walking back to my house with my friend and everything looked so much brighter & clearer. i remember thinking whoaaaahh this is fucken tight. been a pothead ever since :D

i CAN skate...but im not serious about it. dont have the time or the patience to learn any tricks - i only use it as a faster mode of transport than walking lol. i still enjoy getting drunk from time to time as an alternative to getting ripped. the variety keeps both states fresh :)

back to subject. Let me elaborate on this part of my life.

First time for me, I was 13 at my friend's house. His parents were gone and his older cousin was over. His cousin brought a nice little joint with him and told us he would share. So we took him up on the offer and went behind my friend's shed in a sprinkling rain at sunset. It wasn't a particularly good feeling in my throat, but didn't mind anything else. At this point I hadn't even tried cigs (and now I hate them much) These guys showed me how to pass a joint (or tried, haha) and how to take hits. The guy was later joking about how I nearly halved his J with one hit. I thought this was funny. The rest of the night was spent eating various foods, and getting down alcohol from the closet. Had some vodka, club whiskey, and spiced rum. At this point, I'm droned, which is my version of drunk & stoned. We watch TV which seems like alien broadcast. Slept on the couches there. It was a start for a wonderful little part of my life that gets me started into philosophy of the world and beyond. My love of nature and music. My tolerance of people, all people. My goals for the future! Yes, I'm probably pursuing my career goals because I'm trying to get to a point in my life where I can just enjoy my life. MJ helped me realize this.

I was 12... it seems hard to believe that only 2 years ago I didn't smoke weed. My best friend was sleeping over, so we snuck downstairs at 3 am and borrowed my dads pipe, went outside and each took a hit. Barely got a buzz, didn't know how to smoke right and didn't take enough. But about a week afterwards I got some serious smoke through an older friend, got a 1/4 of some good shit, and me and my friend finished it off in 3 days... ever since I been smoking daily. Love it.
