It's true, it has to be, it's not like he worships a higher power, does he?

And well, if atheism is good enough for god, it's good enough for me http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/devil.gif

Was Jesus a Christian? I don't think so, he wasn't a follower of Jesus.

So I think it's a bit useless what you state here.

I think your right.
Even if God worships people, it's not like any of ya'll think God believes you are something special. And if somebody ever did feel special, or believed in themselves enough to think they are equal to any other God in this world, it would eventually cause that person to become worthless because there is no way to prove what they believe... since you can't claim to believe in God and believe that you are also a God. Especially in a world where there are no descriptions, requirements or responsibilities for a God.
If God believes He is God, then He has to know that no other 'supernatural' exist in this universe or any other universe that could exist outside of His perception or travelling range. But God would understand that just because something is out of His reach it does not mean nothing else is out there.
If God believes He is God, then He either has to accept that He lives within closed quarters, or He has found all of the outer limits and He probably just forgot where He left this planet.
If God believes He is God then He has to be ,, how can I say this,
well He has to either understand it is all in His head and that what He is experiencing is only a figment of His imagination,
because it's not like God could think He is God and not do nothing to help His children at this point. If God doesn't think things are bad enough, or if God needs more blood porno war or starvation to occur before He does His thing, then God is just acting like the Devil.
If He thinks he is God then He knows He is an all powerfull entity, and obviously if God has the power to guide us in the right direction, instead of widespread war and seperation then God would. All He would have to do is speak one phrase that everybody on earth would hear in unison, and comprehend.
Damn near every major problem we are having today would be eliminated if we knew God was in control and He is just watching us. We would know if He is mad that we are living like He is really a super maid that is going to clean up the disaster we made.

If a person believes in himself, it is understandable if they also want to consider themselves as a God, you really can't believe in yourself if you are still making your decisions, talking to and answering to a different God in your head. It's either you or Him, you can't believe in both because you have to decide which one you are going to live for, and answer to.
although , it's not like an independent minded person could possess supernatural powers without understanding that he is like...
God God,, and not just a person who believes in himself, or believes he is a good little God.

It's odd that faith in God has removed most people's ability to worship themselves and their surroundings. Either because it is a sin to worship anything other than God or because the surroundings that most of us are experiencing has become a mess that we can't change or clean up.
Maybe there are billions of Gods and billions of universes and we are just doing our job here like people who camp outside the president's ranch hoping and praying to have a conversation with somebody that has the ability to get us out of this shit hole, and we jut have to accept that God doesn't want to discuss it right now. If we worship God, and He worships nothing, should we be mad that He won't even respond to us?

If there is only one spirit of God, then you can't say the spirit is atheist, just because that spirit does not worship what it does not have the ability to acknowledge. Maybe we are in so much trouble here because none of us are worshipping the other side of our brains. It's there, but nobody can worship heaven because that would make God mad and eliminate that possibility for you.

The more you look the less you know, if you search for the answers nothing is going to satisfy your doubts and eventually the questions will consume you...
unless you stop searching and start following the rules and bow down to an image of Jesus Christ or God and erase curiosity from your mind.

I think we should all worship the rain,. babies, puppies, orchids..........
and idolize people who levitate, and get some talented children to make a new plan, a simple plan that pleases everybody while they are creating and following a perfect path of life... a path that we are working towards seeing ourselves travel in 10,000 years from now.
It would be perfect!
anybody who insisted that they should be worshipping a 'superintelligent' or 'supernatural' God, and everybody who loved to fight and dominate people could have all of the guns n knives their hearts desired so they could go play with each other in the desert.
It's simple, if you are not happy with what you see here, then you should be spending most of your time talking to God while He is busy at work trying to create another better universe. If you need a better opportunity at life or you think you are too advanced or too 'special' to be from this planet, then talking to yourself for the rest of your life might be the best thing for you.

We are all supposed to find ourselves on the right path one day, by worshipping and following a God that does not know where He is from, won't tell any of us where we are going, and believes there is nothing in this world worthy enough for Him to bow down to, or worship.

I think we should all worship the rain,.babies, puppies, orchids..........

that's it.

people who can float are obviously stuck up.

And Satan is a Christian, believing in God and Jesus. More than believing, he must KNOW they exist, right?sure he knows they exist, but that doesn't make him christian.... he hasn't "accepted the love of god into his heart" and whatnot. you've gotta believe and accept, you know.
which i find interesting, because if god is good and perfect and all-love, and satan knew it, why would he still say no thankee? what did the tricky ol' devil know that we don't; is there something better and more desirable than god out there? hmmmm

that doesn't make sense. you know you're a human, so you believe humans exist. you know you're a man, so you believe men exist. god knows that he's god, so he believes god exists. if you 'know' that you're god, then you're a believer in god, whatever that means.

god couldn't be an atheist. atheism isn't about not worshipping, it's about not even believing in god. god must know he exists, therefore god is a theist.I'm sorry, but I disagree... You appear to be missing my point... I'm not talking about go being our god... but rather god's god... god himself doesn't sit there, looking up at the stars at night, thinking "I wonder who crated the universe" - he knows, he did it.... therefore, god himself doesn't have a god - making him an atheist.

Either that, or god doesn't exist.....

God could be...anything. God could be absolutely transcendent of this world and all of our knowledge and concepts of it. These words we speak may not apply. Our logic may not apply. I personally hope it doesn't.

I can see how, according to me, a human being, God would be aware of the possibility that he was created to believe he was God. But then wouldn't God have to wonder, if he was created to believe he was God, then he couldn't have been created to believe he was God, because he wouldn't question whether or not he was God, because he would be under the impression, due to his creator, that he was God. Either way, it seems to me, if there is a God, God knows it is God.

I guess what I'm saying is that God is mysterious. I like it that way. I think it's kind of sexy.

The World of Dan
08-30-2005, 03:19 PM
It's interesting that you bring up the whole idea of god being 'created'... It's one classic and fundamental flaw in the argument used by creationists - who created god? If god created us, and there is no way that we could exist without his help, who created god..... they all tend to go shy at that point and shut up... nevermind eh ;)

If god created us, and there is no way that we could exist without his help, who created god.....You ever consider that God always exists?

The World of Dan
08-30-2005, 07:09 PM
I don't think that holds with the current logical understanding of the universe... If god has always existed, then why can't the universe have always existed? In one form or another? Why does it have to fall to god to do these things?

Kharakov
08-30-2005, 08:33 PM
I don't think that holds with the current logical understanding of the universe... If god has always existed, then why can't the universe have always existed? Simple. Since God created the universe it didn't always exist. Create implies something...
Why does it have to fall to god to do these things?
It doesn't "have to fall to God". It is just an accurate description to say "God created the universe." It's simply incorrect to say otherwise, and basing your knowledge on an incorrect fact will lead you into many misconceptions.

Of course, you need God to show you this, so it is not your fault for being stupid if you base your knowledge on the incorrect assumption that the universe is some random occurence. God has to teach you that this is not true.

Kharakov

Kharakov, you have proof of this do you?Yes. It's only hearsay if you haven't experienced it.

a) Things happen around me that are synchronous with what I am thinking internally.
b) I can see God's spirit everywhere (God is beautiful) shining through everything.
c) I hear God's voice speaking to me around me when God directs my attention at God's spirit.
d) plenty of stuff happens around me that reveals God's existence and control over things.

When the stuff first started happening, it freaked me out. I didn't have any conception of God. Usually, I was very outgoing everywhere, I was always part of the conversations at parties, loud, having a blast. Well, at this one party I was quiet, not talking much, just thinking about stuff and observing people around me.

I noticed that 'they' would change the topic of conversations to stuff that matched my internal thoughts. It really freaked me out when I walked to another part of the party and the people I was standing next to started talking about what I was thinking without any prompting from me. Of course, now I know that God controls everything, but back then... wooo.. It was fuckin scary.
Maybe a signed confession from god or something? Something that everyone can see (and don't reply upon faith to see)... You don't need that. You just need God to show you the way things work. I can tell you, but without seeing for yourself, you won't really have an understanding of it. It's the difference between working on a car and reading a book about working on a car, you can learn details from the book if you have already worked on a car a little bit, but you need that hands on experience to really understand what the book is about.
It's just that all of the evidence we currently have points AWAY from this.... Not at all. Can you name one thing that you think points away from God's existence?

i deny your existence, does that mean you dont exist?Sorry, but that's a pathetic argument... I can PROVE I exist... the simple fact that you addressed this message to me goes somewhat towards that (after all, if you don't believe in me, who are you talking to?).

Here I am, right now, writing this message to you now. You can take the IP address of this post, check it against a database of I addresses and see that it belongs to Bulldog ADSL, you can then (in theory) go to Bulldog and ask who used this IP address at this time, and they'll say "oh yes, that's Isabelle Hollands' account, but no doubt her son, Daniel Hollands was using it at the time" (well, they would if the Data Protection Act didn't prevent it :P).

Too complicated? OK, how about this, go to my website (http://theworldofdan.co.uk/) and you'll see my home address.... come and pay me a visit.. I'll happily invite you in and we can talk about *whatever*

No leaps of faith required, no hours upon hours of praying, clinging onto the most tiny of *possable* signs... just me a cup of tea, and if you're really lucky, i'll give you some biscutes too.

what should i be?Well.... you can be whatever you want to be, I'm just going by your profile.. it says agnostic... and for an agnostic person.... well.... you're not very agnostic (mind you, I think you are, you just enjoy playing devils advocate :P)

Not at all. Can you name one thing that you think points away from God's existence?Hold that thought.... I have a whole list of them.. but I need to sort them out first.

(after all,we're all meant to suck up to him right? to stop the bastard from throwing us into hell, right?) he would write his name in the sky - we'd be able to talk directly to him, much like I'm talking to you, we'd be able to go around his house and have cups of tea, etc..... but we can't... we're asked to believe and have faith, with nothing substancial to back it up....... sounds like con of the millenium...

Sorry, but that's theistic bullshit... powerful men who are looking to become even more powerful and enslave people use bullshit excuses like that... But it doesn't hold up to reason or logic.

So what? I get to go to heaven just because some preacher on the TV told me to believe in jesus? and while i'm at it send him all my money so he can clean my soul? As I said before, it's all a con. Even the 'honest' ones, people who are trying to 'save you' for no reason other than because they think they're doing what's needed, and don't want anything in return, are only doing it because they're told to by the people with the power.

What you're saying is that, if I come to you, with a bottle of liquid and told you that it would cure cancer.... (because god has blessed it, or some crashpot scientific discovery in my back garden lab, etc.... whatever excuse I give you)... you would be happy to take a 'leap of faith' on this product without me needing to tell you anything about it, about how I made it, what's in it, etc.... My word alone would be enough for you?

No, of cource you won't... at least if you're an intellegent person..

But that's exactly what they're trying to do with god... "hi, you can't see him, and he'll never contact you, but there is a pixie in the sky that will send you to heaven (somewhere i've never been, but i hear it's really nice) if you believe in him.... and if you don't, he'll throw you into hell (again, never been, but i hear it's a bit hot down there).."

No... I have a quarrell with anyone/anything that tries to bullshit people, be it the government, religion, cancer cures, whatever.. If you can't prove something with substancial evidence, then I reserve my right to not believe something.

It just so happens that christanity (or rather christanity's idea of god, after all, it's not like they're the only culture in the world to believe in gods) is in my viewfinder at the moment because the majority of religous people in the western world believe in the bible god (even jews and muslims all believe in the same guy, just in diffrent ways), so he's the one i hear the most about.

Believe it or not, I don't have a problem with 'faith' itself.... I'm happy for people to believe whatever they want, and respect their own right to worship, provided it does not affect me in a negative way...

No, it does not mean more growing... now you're just throwing more insults in my face, saying that I'm not mature... Just because I'm not going to abandon all sence of logic and reason and follow your example, I'm immature....

I've had it with you... if you can't even have this conversation rationally, then I'm not interested in having it at all.. good day to you sir.

Just because I'm not going to abandon all sence of logic and reason and follow your example, I'm immature....Well, conversely, I think if you do not follow my example, it is a sign of greatness and intelligence. Something far more than what I have.
I've had it with you... if you can't even have this conversation rationally, then I'm not interested in having it at all..Perhaps you would like a spot of tea with your crumpets? No?
Well, you should try the cinnamon rolls, they are simply divine. And the tea, ohh the tea, it has the extract of myristica purified to extract the saffrole, which is then prepared through various stages to prepare this divine tea of ecstacy. Simply wonderful..
good day to you sir.
And a good day to you too, you are simply the best conversationalist I have run across in all the days I've lived. I certainly have enjoyed our little chat.

tata!
