Hi! Here are some of the photos I took of the New Place we're just buying across the stream from here. Things look good to Settle next Friday. You never know... things can go wrong when you least expect them to. But, I thought that you might enjoy walking on the wood's side of the property with me....

Kenny and I have been dreaming of buying this property for 14 years. We are doing this to keep the Magic alive in this valley...

When we settle next Fri., The circle of this very Magic place will be joined again. We are Only Stewards of the ground we walk.

Please, Everyone... Have a good weekend. All our Good Wishes go with you.

Love,
Sam

Oh My Sam.....you must feel like the luckiest person alive to be surrounded by such tranquil beauty. I can almost smell the clean fresh air, and feel the cold water rush over my feet. I would love to sit in that old rockin chair and doze, with nothing to hear but birds singing. I envy you my sister. Peace, ruby

Sam- It's absolutely beautiful. You are so lucky to have such a tranquil and special place. I can almost feel the magic there (it is there isn't it?). Watch out for the elves, they can be pretty tricky, leave them something (they like sweet stuff) at your kitchen door every night, then they won't come in your house and steal stuff.

I was just putting myself there, this old city girl would probably fall off the bridge, step in goat shit and get poison ivy or die eating berries because I got lost in the woods and forgot to leave a trail of breadcrumbs.

I am sure you will be happy there and I am wishing you just that, happiness and peace.

Hey Youse Guys... Thank You VERY Much for the positive feedback on these pics... I really do appreciate it.

I post things like this mainly because there are those out there who cannot get out into the woods... some who can't even get out of their homes for one reason or the other. It's my only way of sharing the 'sometimes' peace there is to be found here. I certainly don't mean it to be showing off, just asking for you to come and walk the woods with me.

Yes Grendel, there truly is magic here. This place was settled in the mid 1700's by Pagans. The Spring is sacred and so is the 49" Oak Tree that serves as property bounds. We seem to be called upon to caretake these magic places, and I for one am not complaining one iota.

We're intending to rent the new place place. The considerations I'll have stem from discrimination laws... like I don't want folks with children (many reasons), and they have to be the 'house proud' kind too. I think this means that I won't advertise.

We'll also offer the option of boarding one horse in our barn and pasture. But they'll have to supply their own hay and grain and clean their own stall. This could mean a pasture buddy for Raven, but I'm not counting my chickens with a hatchet yet.

Yes, I do feel very lucky. Everyday I wake with a sense of belonging to the Earth.

I just threw some firewood across the stream to the firepit at the cabin site. I'm going to celebrate the Solstice this evening and who knows who will turn up at the fire... could be elves. Who knows.

Take Care, and know that I'll be thinking about you all at my fire tonight....

WOW SAM!!!

Honey, if we didn't already have our little slice of heaven, we'd come and apply for that slice.

How nice that you have a spring, we have one near us but its 4 miles up the road, the water is most excellent, we only have our shallow well dug but we do have our auger and now that the bathroom is built we plan to dig a new deep well, using the roof to stand on....lol....true though.

Hell someone would be might lucky to "live" in the playhouse it sooo nice!!!

Lovely animals too,
Big Hug to you,
teepi

Whoa! Teepi... have you run that auger yet? It's a cool tool, but you really need solid footing to operate one. They have a tendency to lift you up and spin you around... even full grown men with lots of muscle. You be careful with it, test run the damned thing if you haven't already. Don't want to see an auger become a widow maker, if you know what I mean. OK, I'm done shoulding on you...

That's a real nice slice of heaven you have too... I love the greenhouse! You'll have to take your camera around with you and take more pics to show. Guess I wasn't done shoulding on you... Am now.

Kenny didn't know that there was a tree house over there... I told him a few days ago... he said; "You mean I'll own a place with a TREE HOUSE?" He was so excited, just like a little kid.

Ruby... last night's fire turned into more than I bargained for. Instead of being welcoming, I turned into an Isolation Queen. I'm going to try and get back here to write a post about my experiences last night. But, as bad as my interactions were, up until about 1 AM... the good which came about by my wanting to hate still has me spun around. Today my goal is to chill. That's more difficult than you can imagine... but if I can work through this, it'll be a Wonderful start of the summer season.

Talk to you later,
Sam

Wow, Sam this is lovely!! Those Pennsylvania woods are something special, aren't they?? I'm still living part time in my little neck of the woods in Pa, and the woods look just like that...lovely, dark and deep.

Good luck with all of your projects, and with all of your lovely goats!

~Sam~

Hey Sus! You're sort of near Central PA aren't you? Yes, the woods are greener and darker than ever this year 'cause of all the rain we've been getting. Have you noticed that the Black Walnut trees are dropping most of their nuts? I was just out stripping the stall, and when I pushed the wheel barrow down to the manure pile, I noticed walnuts about the size of quarters all over the ground.

The mortgage went through, and closing is set for this Fri... I'll be interviewing the first potential renter this Sunday. Gods! What has I gotten myself into?

Eventually, Ken wants to Gate the driveway over there and we're thinking on having the place as a guest house. We also have some plans for additons and a wrap around deck with a stone bar-b-que... on the same chimney that will be in the Great Room.

Ahhhhhh Dreams.... they keep us young. Tired, but young. Thanks for dropping in....

Love,
Sam

I"m more in southwestern PA, near Pittsburgh. And, I'm still gonna have to sell this place, and ,it breaks my heart. Just not enough going on around here to keep me involved, very conservative, and my life would probably end up being more in Pittsburgh or Morgantown, W. VA, which is not very do-able in the winter. And, other places are calling me, big time!!

Yes, I've seen lots of black walnuts all over the ground...I thought that was odd too. We've had so much rain...the other night, it rained about 3 inches in about 2 hrs....amazing. Lots of people got flooded out, many lost their homes altogether. We made the national news here in the Pittsburgh area, but I wish we could have made it for a better reason!

How is your friend in Montana? I know that rain was an issue in Montana last yr., and there were lots of wildfires. I think there has been more rain this yr. in Montana, so hopefully it is not as bad.

Take care, SAm, I'll catch ya' later!

She's doing fine. Trying to talk me into getting a wildlife rehab. license... I have too many animals in this valley as it is, and very few, safe places to work a manure pile. And I would hate to bring some rare kind of ailment here to my buddies... and I know that would happen as sure as the sun comes up in the east.

She's still getting some snow up there, but it changes awfully quickly at the altitude and with the wind blowing to dry everything out. We were looking forward to a visit this past winter from her, but you know how those things go when you have critters. Something always turns up that you have to take care of... yadda da yadda da... I was just drenching my dog with goat milk... (using a 12cc syringe to put it into her mouth so that she could slowly drink it). She ate a half a can of soup this morning for me, and I had to sit on the floor and coax her all the way... she got into the horseshit eating habit and for the last two weeks has refused anything else. I've cut her off from her ready supply and I guess I'm taking the appropriate measures... time will tell.

You Take Care Yourself,
Sam

thats really very beautiful, youre very lucky to have found a place like that! and as for that picture with the tree with the bent branch... ive seen that before

Thanks, we plan to retire there in about 10 or so years, when our farm gets to be too much for us to want to maintain.

As far as that tree... Do you live near Codorus State Park? Have you walked in my woods, on my path, under the branch of my Oak tree? I took that picture the day my buck goat kid broke his leg. And instead of paying attention to my animals, I was off taking pics of the Guest House we were buying and have since closed on, to send to my In-Laws. I walk under that branch everytime I go for a walk to the cabin.

If you'd like to come here and walk beneath that tree branch yourself... you have an open Invite. Or... perhaps you'd like to harvest some Wild Ginger Root from the patch that grows nearby.

Gawd! but I do love your >snort< ... It just gets me to laughin' and snortin' myself.

Teepi, I've been having a moment for days now. I'm being a monster to everyone around here. Not because I want to, or that I feel like being that way... but the way these critters have been pushing me around lately I've had to tighten up them reins. NO! seems to be the only word I say really loudly around here anymore. What with the new pup chewing on me, the horse trying to bully me around and the goats doing and getting into all kinds of stuff. Makes me tired, yeah it does.

Anyway... I'm gonna sit down and light one up.

Yeah,take a break and mellow out.,,,I'm joining you.....brb....

ok I'm back, I havn't lit one up in weeks....old hillbilly from up on the hill came by and turned me on to a bit of local afew weeks back...hoping to bring commerce into the fold I'm sure, but I don't buy nuttin'....shit, get this...in the local paper they were running a coupon you can cut out and turn in people...I haven't looked at a paper in a while, but we couldn't believe it when we first saw it....

When I was bringin up my kiddies, I would try to spend alone time with each one at least every week, do something together, at home or go off....but I always tried to make it something out of the normal everyday stuff we did...years later they both thanked me for those times and my son told me it really made him feel so close and special to me....

I don't know why I just told that story...

I don't know if its because of this whole moon and mercury thing right now but I have been on edge this week too, I actually got into a stupid post dual last night on the forums...I've never really had harsh words with anyone...well, except for that weirdo '70's guy on the old forum, but he was an antagonistic ass born in the '80's and a yearnin' for the '70's...
There was an apology from them today and its all ok now but I don't usually jump on anyone like that. It was over something pretty petty too, and I could very well have kept my fingers shut....but noooo, I started wailing on the keyboard, and it was on.....
I am toasted....this has taken me quite awhile to type...just caught myself with my arms crossed over the top of my head, my head back against the wall, totally mesmerized by absolutely nothing at all....but my typing is, oh so very good.

I will take jackeddy out for a walk and maybe i will run into my lovely neighbors who I called the animal warden on last week and they will try to start something and i will have the pleasure of turning my back to them and walking away....I love that part...it really pisses 'em off. they love to try to fuck with me....
Don't worry Sam...I have guns baby!!!!!

Talk with you later moo-cha-cha,
teepi

You are very lucky Sam. What a beautiful, beautiful piece of land. Don't let things get to you -- we aren't on this earth long enough. When things are starting to get to you, just stop, breathe and look around. Remember how lucky you are. Look at the people and /or animals that are getting on your last nerve. They love you -- they really do. Take a few more breaths and you will feel better. I always do.

Just a little relaxation suggestion.

wow! to buy that house where i live you'd hav to be a millionaire!

Damn!!! Teepi, I've been working on this idea. You see, I wear a rag on my head like the old European women did, or still do. Don't know why, just feels right.

But, anyway... I've been thinking of having Kenny take a pic of me... like, with me wearing my babushka and holding my pointy finger to my lips and parodying a "Shush". Like the Russian poster saying; "Shush, Someone might be listening."

I've even thought of a logo to go with... sort of off to the right of my pic... An Eagle, with its spread wings dropped to the ground, head on the floor, with an axe in its back. "The American Eagle... Killed by Americans."

Me too Teepi... I got's 'em too. Boy are we ever a pair and a half.

Where is it that you live, Natz? Here in PA, especially where I live, we're just now becoming inundated with Suburban Sprawl... You'd be surprised at our low taxes and purchase prices still... won't last beyond the next few months as far as I can tell... but I guess you can say we squeaked by on this one.

No, I know that we aren't here for that long, Tranguil. That's the trouble. I'm nearing the end of my journey, and I think that I'm trying to fit in too much of what I thought that I'd have time for. But I am relaxed most of the time. Like Teepi said, it must be the conjuntion of the planets or sumthin' like that. I read your reply yesterday and had thought about it all day... It was almost like you took my hand and squeezed it briefly. Your words truly were a great comfort to me... Thanks!

Love Youse All...
Sam
