I’ve read books not meant for my eyes
Through which I have learned to despise
The world that is ever lies, the Bluff
But the subtle beauty latent in all that is living
Full of mystery and never stops giving
I’ve learned you cannot love enough
I’ve learned with doubt to shout “No!”
In times of discomfort and distress
But ever louder and prouder is the sound
Of my triumphant “Yes!”
I’m often lost to pessimism and despair
In the cold anonymity of these times that dare
To sever, separate, detach, and tear
The soul from body and body from mind
Lost in the numeric mass I feel
What difference could I make?
I’m met with indifference at all times
Must I shake this rattlesnake?
At other times I’m swelling with ambition
Confident in the prowess of my volition
I create and destroy with gods’ hands
Diamond from black dust and glass from desert sands
Contemplating now this thought
That my peers lie within the stars
This concept has always brought
Me to consider where we are
We must get out get in get through
Over and under to find some truth
To make our own the brightest of all days
To blaze our own trails and make our own ways
So hark now to this call of arms
My revolutionary friends
Leave your factories stores schools and farms
As our human tribe ascends
An open offer to all who would receive it
An honest hug if you would believe it
Our heads our high but our hearts are true
We love all things, occasionally you
Only because we’ve suffered in the gutter
Are we able to smile and laugh like this
We know if you don’t squander and waste your time on this plane
Heaven on earth can truly exist
Through which I have learned to despise
The world that is ever lies, the Bluff
But the subtle beauty latent in all that is living
Full of mystery and never stops giving
I’ve learned you cannot love enough
