here's a smidge of that song....
Making Pies...Patty Griffin
Did I show you this picture of my sweetheart
Taken of us before the war
Of the Greek and his Italian girl
One Sunday at the shore
We tied our ribbons to the fire escape
They were taken by the birds
Who flew home to the country
As the bombs rained on the world
5am
Here I am
Walking the block
To TableTalk
You could cry or die
Or just make pies all day
I'm making pies
Making pies
Making pies
Making pies
Something about it just popped into my head when I read "fixin' buckets."
seems I take pleasure in my everyday life, some might say its hum drum, but compared to the way I used to live I cherish the every day chores and what comes with them,

I'm making Tapioca Pudding today, Teepi. Which puts me in mind of that Saturday Nite Live skit; Choppin' Brocolli.
Hey, I saw the pics of your Ole Man in the Galleries... nice looking dude... he does have a strong grip, doesn't he? I don't think that I'll rest well until you get that well of yours drilled. Please tell me when you have it done, OK?
Yup, I'm easily entertained myself. Two days ago, I sat on the barn floor for almost two hours to watch a moth fill his wings, just after emerging from his chrysalis, and fly away. It was wonderful!
Butterflies, and lots of them, to you today....

Right you are Sam...those gas powered augers are a flying bitch!!!
We rented one to dig our post holes for the house, us 2 and 2 friends on that thing and it wore us OUT!!
Of course those rental ones are not sharpened very well, and this place has loads of roots, where we put the house.
The shallow well we came upon by digging post holes for the garden fence, we had bought a hand auger, 8" in diameter and with a nice handle you take off and keep adding lenths of pipe to till you're down as far as you want, the shallow well is down 12 feet, and we get ok water but a bit sulphery....the house well we are digging will be about 25-30 feet, we are in a valley surrounded by hills and should do pretty good at that depth, Larry looked at some water table maps of our area.
Thus the roof vantage point, hell climbing up and down for him, but that thing goes through this , dirt, clay, roots and silt pretty well.
But it won't be finished for awhile, he's gone all week and the weekends are not true weekends, he gets here bout 7 pm friday dead tired, sat. is errands(60 mile roung trip to the city every 2 weeks, 30 mile round to our town other 2 weeks) and home chores, (honeydo list, things I can't do by my lonesome) and then we do party a bit Sat. night...bonfire, and we play music together, then Sunday I cook for his week up there and he leaves 5pm on Sunday, but little by little we are getting the music studio built and just finished the bathroom, just need the deep well to hook the plumbing to and the pressure tank, we built a compost potty so thats no concern.
I'll keep you posted and I will take more picks when this place stops looking like a construction site cyclone hit it.
Every time I bring brocolli in Larry sings that choppin song..lol
I love tapioca.......mmmmmm

The Chopping Broccoli Song
~ Dana Carvey
There's a Lady I Know
If I didn't know her
She'd be the Lady I didn't know.
And my lady, she went downtown
She bought some broccoli
She brought it home.
She's chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli
She's chopping broccoli
She's chopping broccoli
She's chop... ooh!
She's chopping broccola-ah-ie!
Chopping bocco-loco-lay-eaa-eaa-eaa-eeee.....
Glad to hear you have a handle on that auger... >>>snark<<<
My Ole Man's out of town too this week. I love it and I don't, if you know what I mean...
Now, I'm goin' out and buy myself a bottle of wine and kick back...
Ahhhhhhhhh Yes Mam!
Sam
You always said you were tall, Sam, and I can see from this pic that you are, indeed, a very tall woman!! And I love the shirt/drape that you have on...very nice picture!
