I'm taking a low dose of this as a mood stabelizer before I get put on an antidepressant. I'm not sure why but it may have something to do with my family history of bi-polar and apparently I show some bi-polar tendicies.
The side effects are shitty...nausea, can't sleep at night, edgy. Not to mention I'm still depressed as fuck. But it's only been 3 days so I'm giving it some time.
Anybody have any experience with abilify?

It stabilizes out after a week or so.

....oh yeah...I wouldn't take it for depression...it tends to lead to crying spells.

Hmmm I started my first dose yesterday. The doctor said to take 1/2 to 1 5mg pill as needed. That seemed odd to me because in everything that I have read about it, you are supposed to be on it all of the time, so it is a constant in your system. I mean how else could it possibly regulate moods. Yeah that is why I'm on it as a mood stabilizer as well as Wellbutrin for my depression. I love the Wellbutrin, but I've been having crazy bouts of rage that seem to be getting worse. They (meaning both doctors) think that it is getting more manic and so they want to stop it before it gets worse. But I too had a crying fit this morning in the shower. I know what brought it on though. I've been having a lot of problems with my boyfriend's family right now. They don't approve of me (we've been together almost 5 years now, its a little late I think). But anyway, the only side effects I noticed is that it knocked me right the hell out. I fell asleep at 9pm last night and I wanted to go to bed much earlier than that, I just forced myself to stay up and watch One Tree Hill. I decided I'm going to take it before bed, and see if that makes a difference. I'm scared to drive on it.
Aside from that all I got was a little muscle stiffness, but that could have been because I was freaking myself out by reading all of the things that it could do to me.
I do have one question for you all, has it caused any problems with overheating in you? It says that it makes it hard for your body to regulate temperature so to be careful when exercising. That is hard since I'm a personal trainer and I exercise like 2 hours a day for myself, not to mention when I'm training others. I just want to be careful, and I'm scared this will mess me up. Any advice on that?
Please keep in touch for those who are on this drug. I could use some support. Thanks. :)

Took Abilify for a year after Depakote disagreed with me. It was combined with WellbutrinXL . It worked for me. Calmed the rages, lessened the crying jags. But I do have that overheating thing. But now I am off mood stabilizers all together. Only taking anti-depressants. But a lot of psych drugs have overheating as a side effect. Never had any other problems, except weight gain with Depablote! Give the Abilify time. And you are on a low dosage. It will equal out.
Wondered if anyone ever posted here. It's nice to know others that share your perspective on things.http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
