Been to Tuscon alot actually. Its like what he/she said above me. 3 months of the year its hot, then confortable 60-70's the rest of the year. Also other than those temperatures, the monsoon will be awesome. In the summer months generally late june through september is called the Arizona Monsoon of which Thunderstorms will be around dumping rain, lightning, hal, winds, rare tornadoes. I go Storm Chasing in this area must during this period. Tuscon is totally awesome.

The inlaws are retired and live out there,we go every few years. It's gorgeous and there seems to be a scene there. It's a college town, downtown near the university there are groovy shops and restaurants,it's pretty hip. There are wonderful places to hike and stuff out in the mountains if you dig nature. Watch out for the coyotes and have a great time.

arizona is extremely hot during april-october (most extreme in the middle months)...but the rest, the sun is almost always shining and it feels like springtime all the time.
if you go down there, check out 4th ave. (the hippy hangout...tons of little shops and vegetarian restaurants and a very awesome co-op grocery store), the san xavier mission (its on a reservation...the natives come in with little rustic stands and sell fry bread...a must to eat if you are in arizona), and eat at a mexican restaurant (there COUNTLESS many).
other than that...the traffic sometimes gets busy, and supposedly UofA not that much of a party campus.
have fun...i love tucson.

ive lived in tucson almost four years, i lived on fourth avenue and it is a lot more then what these people have said about it, they sound like tourists or people who live in the foot hills, the idea that we have several months of weather in the 60s and 70 is total bs. its so hot out here it will make you crazy, which is why most people downtown are hanging out in places like che's and the buffet. there are a lot of hippies, but there not real hippies there slakers and drunks who dont bathe and wear too much patchuli. the real people are the punk rockers of which Jester is their God.(all hail the great and powerful Jester!) the shows at skrappys are great, the best place to eat is the cashba where my friend jessie works. on sundays you can go to the krsna temple and eat a vegi buffet for 3 dollars and hang out with peacocks, koa ponds and talking birds. if you like to fish there is a place on mission and ajo, they have great mexican food stands. the carne asada is the best. there is a place on 4th were you can get a carne asada taco for 1.50, then there is brooklyn pizza where you can get a phat slice of cheese for2 dollars extra toppings .50 each which includes artichoke feta and 20 other things. if you want to sit down and have some great tea, forget epic, there snobs, go to itl they are great you can have tea for 1.75 one free refil .25 after the free one, they have art, books, you can color with the color pencils they provide talk to the real hippies like butterfly micheal (skinny white guy with big afro) ches has 1 dollar drinks either beer (rotates brand) or sodas with free refils. if you need a good place to eat after hours you can go to the grill on congress right next to chicago music store, they have live music and feature the best wildberrie pie and the best cooks, ask for vic, he rocks. lindys on 4th is worth checking out, the co-op is ok, but there is a much better place on glen and country club. pagans can find the broom closet and hang out with the coolest witches in the country.sometimes they have great parties at this place on main and university, ask for Will. i love tucson, but dont let anyone tell you its only hot for three months, you will be unpleasently surprised.

I have to agree with robin...It's fucking hot there. I lived in Tucson for 14 years, and it is uncomfortable to be outside because of the heat from April until like October. Then it drops into the 80s for the rest of the year. Good thing is that you don't need much clothing there!
I also love Tucson though and miss it!!

tucson isn't that hot, really. and people keep generalizing arizona with tucson but it's much different than phoenix. it has more culture and personality but with that, it's also has pretty trashy parts, especially around campus. it's nice by the mountains and to the north if you can get there, but other than that, it's not such a nice place.

tucson beats phoenix any day hands down. the traffic is terrible, but depending on where you live you can get around relatively easily on a bicycle. it has a lot of culture for whoever's interested while still maintaining a relatively low population... that's changing, though, of course.

Since moving off campus two months ago, I've had to get my tires fixed twice. The glass isn't so horrible.... that happens everywhere, but a month after seeing broken glass, it's still not gone. only dispersed after so many people riding over it. eventually it just fades to a sparkle on the ground, which sounds fun, but really isn't! God, this city could be so wonderful and full of culture if it wasn't such a crack house.

LOL ... funny thread.
If you want to know how hot it is, or isn't, don't take anyone's word for it ... look up the actual statistics on the web.
Tucson is an interesting city. The Mexican food is great, the weather is great, the Spanish influence is interesting, and the surrounding geography is beautiful. Don't come in the summer if the heat bothers you, but other than that you'll have a lovely time.
