fluoxetine (prozac)

I've been prescribed fluoxetine which I've discovered is just another name for prozac and I'm trying to decide whether or not to take it. In researching the drug a couple of places have mentioned a documented side effect of causing mania and psychosis. I have experienced psychotic episodes (extreme paranoia, hearing voices) a few times over the past year. They were brief and drug-induced (ecstasy, mushrooms, cannabis) and after a couple of days they wore off. Should I be worried about fluoxetine having the same effect?

Does anyone have any experiences with prozac? Should I take this stuff?

My dad was on it for quite a while, and it didn't help him a bit. But that's just him. Also, I'm 87% sure that alcohol diminishes the effects of the drug...
