so i've finally done it - after many trips to the diy shop, lots of banging of nails, screwing of screws, sticking of tape, bringing extension cables from downstairs, enough reflective sheeting for a small space ship, and ducting that makes me think it is a space ship, i have finally finished the new flower room :)
yeah i know it looks just like the old one really! the old one had started a lot smaller, then i expanded it out, then up, then up a bit more as the plants kept growing. it was so unstable and looked suspect. it was kinda held up on those brackets you put shelves on, and i had to put bits of cardboard and wood over certain bits in the end to plug light leaks and to keep it from falling apart!
its just a simple wooden frame really, one side with lightproof sheeting, the other mylar. i got some bamboo blinds to cover the outside so it doesn't look like i've got a big white plastic box in the room! when the desks in front i think its pretty disguised, which is good cos i got the builders in next week to finally fix the leaky extension!
its got the new 400w light in, the new extractor fan and carbon filter ( which is incredible - no smell at all, i kinda miss it really ;) ) i take the air out the top, so from outside the growroom you don't notice a thing. i had to get some new oscillating fans cos the old ones had been overused and wern't really doing anything in the end. i have 2 in there now, on for alternate times, so they have don't have to run for hours on end ( like the last ones did ) and the plants get blown from all sides at different times. when i can find one i'll get another clip on fan to direct just at the light ( the 400 gives of a lot more heat than the 250 does )
i still need to work a way so i can have the fans at different heights in growroom so i can change where they are as the plants grow ( as you see there sat on top of boxes on top of pots at the moment! ) but i'm pretty pleased with it so far :)
the only problem now is the veg room is half the depth of the flower room, so they don't have much room to veg - as you can see in the flower room, this has made the plants tall but not that wide. i might go for feminised seeds from now on so i don't need as many plants in the veg room and they can stretch out more before going into the flower room.
ramble ramble lol :&
* edit : changed pic, don't want to be to blatant!
