PPP - Peacefully Protecting Pot

I think pot should be legalized/decriminalized for personal recreational use, and I believe that a lot of teenagers and otherwise normal people should not be punished for using it. I think there's a lot of other things that the government needs to be worried about, besides a few stoners toking up. I think it's none of their business. I want to start getting some activism going on in my town, because it's a small, boring town where everybody can't find anything better to do than smoke weed. I think that it should be legal to grow, to eliminate the dealer's aspect of the whole culture, and just have the culture based on friendship and sharing. I think that if everyone grew their own pot, and there was a lot of it, people would just share, and the good side of the culture would be exposed.

I think that some peaceful protesting is underway, but the only problems are:

1) Is it legal to protest the illegality of pot? I mean are there legal consequences of going in front of a lot of people and actually standing up for it?
Would I get in any legal trouble for peacefully protesting this?

2) What if we could get cops on our side? What if some officers just said "Yeah, we really don't care about a bunch of stoners running around and getting high, we have more important things to worry about, like the rise of cocaine and methamphetimines in the country."

Well I don't know, I basically started this thread to get some responses and ideas and see if other people think like me.

1. Yes, you could get into trouble, they can't arrest you legally, but they can, if given a reason, search you and if they find pot, they can charge you for possession... I reccomend getting the word out about it 30 days in advance, give everyone time to get clean and tell everyone to keep their shit at home. Have them all bring bongs and what have you and just fill them with water and don't actually smoke them, but bring lighters and all that as part of a demonstration.

2. Yes, you could get cops on your side, a lot of cops are reasonable people, but you run the risk when you ask of getting searched...I reccomend asking one in your neighborhood while they're off duty.
