waht would you christians or other god fearing people do if it was found out that there WAS a god, but it was of a different religion? would you change your religion to that of teh rea god, or jsut become more faithful in your own believe, ahving seen proof that there IS a god? would fundamentalists then have wars over what the religion actually is, fuelled greater than other religious wars due to the physical evidence of god?

i hope u understand waht im asking.

What sets Christianity appart from any other religion is the Bible's fulfilled prophecies, archaeological and scientific proof. No other book can compare!

"As a result, with all the fulfilled prophecies, archaeological and scientific proof a person who rejects the Bible would require more faith than a person that believes it. But still people will go to great heights to try to prove the Bible wrong just so they don't have to obey God's regualtions. But if they only knew that life was just a test with only two possible grades-Heaven or Hell-people would quickly turn and follow Jesus."

Campbell, I think religion itself can be the greatest stumbling block to finding a relationship with God. Therefore, I claim no religion as my own. I greatly respect the teachings of Jesus and think there are many who come in his name, but spread only lies.

campbell34
06-21-2004, 10:38 PM
I, myself, am a non denomination Christian. I don't go along with the catholics or the baptist or any denominations. I simply follow what Jesus and the Bible says. You say you "respect the teachings of Jesus" does that mean you believe everything says or some of what he says? Do you believe part of the Bible or all of the Bible? Because it is either all right or all true.

POPthree13
06-21-2004, 10:45 PM
I disagree with that statement campbell. I challenge you to find a scripture that suggests the bible is ALL RIGHT or ALL WRONG. I think most people ASSUME a lot of stuff about Christianity that has absolutely no support in the bible.

Beyond that, I know that the bible is a fragmented document which has many, many authors, has undergone many, many translations and represents only a fraction of the material that was available to the councils who assembled it for you (almost 300 years after the death of Jesus). There was widespread disagreement on what was valid, what was true, what was to be included, etc. etc. for hundreds (sometimes almost thousands of years) and then Rome dictated that THIS is to be the ONE and ONLY bible from here on out and you bought it. Good for you. Jesus didn't say that. Find out who did and then you will know whos ideas you are spreading.
I think what Jesus taught is a valid path to find God on. I follow what I feel is right. Parting seas, arcs full of animals, staffs into serpents, talking snakes, pillars of salt.... these have nothing to do with my relationship with God so I would rather not even discuss it. Does it REALLY matter? Only to those trying to prove themselves instead of looking for truth.

campbell34
06-21-2004, 11:28 PM
Sometimes the debate between those who see the Bible as the inspired Word of God, and those who see it as a document produced by human writers and editors becomes frozen in the following exchange. Those who are identified as fundamentalists or biblical literalists will say something like this. "You can't pick and choose among books or passages from the Bible, suggesting that some are true while others are false. Either the Bible is inspired or it isn't. Either it's the infallible Word of God, or its writers were liars. God doesn't inspire falsehood." In making this case such persons cite certain scripture passages as proof of the pudding. For example, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which reads: "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that people of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

http://christianity.about.com/cs/bible/a/bibletruth.htm

Therefore, if one part of it is not true then all of it is not true because the Bible says it is inspired by God but if there are errors in it then it was not really inspired really inspired by God. IT ONLY TAKES ONE ERROR TO PROVE THE BIBLE WRONG.

"All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that people of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

All scripture does not mean the Bible. It means ALL scripture. What happened to the hundreds of scriptures disregarded when the bible was assembled? Remember that the bible was not assembled until 220 years after Timothy was written so how can it apply to the bible as it exists today? Since only the old testament in various scrolls and parchments was in wide circulation at the time, I would assume timothy was talking about that.
All scripture? So if I write something down and call it a scripture it becomes the word of God? Who decided what was scripture and what wasn't? This is where that homework comes in... So THEY can decide what to take and what to leave, but we are unable? Does God only talk to a few?

campbell34

God guided men to put the Bible together as it is today and the entire book points to salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

POPthree13
06-22-2004, 05:44 PM
I disgree with that. The Roman Emperor Constantine directed the assembly of the bible and I think his empire was more important to him than the word of god. It all points to one conclusion because they left out most of the relevant information. I thik Jesus' blood is a parable (and it is not even used that often) that simply says he died to bring us a message. Instead of following that message we are lost in a book that he did not write (although some scholars beleive he did actually pen some scriptures, they were conveniently left out of the bible and were probably destroyed to cover their tracks.)

I think that the Bible is meant to be figurative not literal. It makes sense...Jesus
taught in parables...so perhaps that the Bible is partly parable...see what I'm saying? Like the old fables..this is in refrence MOSTLY to the old testiment...they are fabricated stories made to teach us lessons to bring us closer to God and to tell us of the coming of Jesus Christ...then the New Testiment are the stories of Jesus Christ, then Acts and beyond become the stories of the speading of Jesus's work....

MidnightMoonlight,

"THOSE WHO PREACH HELL FIRE AND DAMNATION ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!!!"

Here is what Jesus said....

"They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." -Matt. 13 42 ..... (according to you, Jesus is in trouble)

THOSE WHO PUSH THEIR RELIGION ON OTHERS ARE NOT RIGHT TO DO SO!

Here is also what Jesus said

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." -Matt 4:19 .... (Yet again Jesus is not right according to what you believe. When telling someone about God they have the right to listen or not... no one is holding a gun to their head. If don't tell others about God however how then will it spread??? You must be the only member in your religion because it is wrong to tell any one about it.)

As Jesus says in the bible, finding God is a personal experience! A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!!! which means that no-one, NO-ONE has any right to say to another what to believe when it comes to knowing God on a personal level!

Ok what about the people that never even heard about God? Can you please give me verses of "As Jesus says in the bible, finding God is a personal experience!"

Jesus says in their, that many will believe but only a small amount will truely realize what the real gift is, not salvation, but it is life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!salvation is a reward not a gift, and salvation is between the individual and God!

First of all, where does it say that the real gift is not salvation but life. Why did Jesus die on the cross then? Salvation is free ...You simply ask Jesus into your heart. A reward is given to a person when they do something good. But according to the Bible you are not saved by works but by GRACE.

I found GOD on a personal level and I don't have to explain that to anyone!

Ok but not everyone is seeking God... For example atheists. There has been many cases where atheist have been converted to a Christians all because someone stood up and told them about Jesus and the truth about the Bible. Now would that have happen if they where selfish and didnt tell anyone about God.

Mark 16:15 - And he said to them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

If salvation was free, then their would be no need for hell, know would their!

Hell is just disbelief in the salvation offered by God. Disbelief that God has your back. Disbelief that God will take care of you and you have to take care of yourself. The idea of a literal hell drives us out of the actuall hell. pretty simplke concept actually. Didn't big bro say something about diciplining those he loves?

Kharakov

I take this to mean that works alone will not get you into heaven. One may preach the word, do works in the Lords name, but then mistreat his fellow man, he may harbor hatered in his soul. Case in point, it is no secret that the Sicilian Mob has given millions to those in the churches, why they did so was most likely out of guilt, that money was used for good, but it came from spoiled fruits, and it clearly states in Matthew ch 7 that good cannot come forth from an evil tree! In fact, it was probably a sin to even accept such moneys, but they did and they knew where it came from. My point is that one can not trade off good deeds as a licience to commit sins! Mobsters were always good at that, at church every Sunday, every one of them carrying a gun!!!!!!!

and this is MY problem because..........................Yo, mooney- Check it out. Are you sure you are not judgin something God has created as "bad". I look at your words as divine humour, but at the same time it is tragic that you feel that a part of Gods creation is bad. I was listening to deicide the other day in my friends car and giggling at the fact that God came up with Satanic Cults... etc. Damn, I luv God...

Are you saying that What God has created for you is evil? I love this place..

Kharakov

I believe that hell is real, and that certain types of people belong their! what would be the point other wise, if one lived their life here, by taking away the lifes of others, why would that soul deserve to be free, to havoc evil in the spiritual world. Their are consequences for our actions, if their wasn't we all have a free licence to sin it up! lye, cheat, steal and murder, it ok, I believe in Jesus, I will get into heaven no prob!!!!!! I don't think it works that way, as much as those heathens would like to convince themselves that it does!
There are consequences for every action, including the action of judging something God has done as wrong. When you say that a person has inflicted murder, you deny the fact that it was part of God's plan for the person to be a part of that death. You deny that God has power over all creation and open yourself up to divine judgement- which I am relaying to you in this very moment.

Peace and Love!!!

Nah, I m sleepy... and you may be a demon. But God sent you to me, so its all good. God always kills people for me to amuse me. God is my sweetheart.

MidnightMoonlight,

I am not a politician, but a Christian. You are on a Christian post and you are spewing anti-Christian information. I must also remind you although this is a Christian forum the majority of the people that are in here are not Christian.....kinda like the world. In this forum I am always on the defense.
"If salvation was free, then their would be no need for hell, know would their!"

-Just because salvation is free does not mean one has to except it. They have free samples at the crocery store and a person has the choice take or deny that sample. Likewise, in the free gift of salvation a person has the choice to accept or reject it. Sadly, most of the world rejects to the free gift of grace as shown in Matthew 7:13-14. Therefore, there is a need for hell because not every one is going to heaven.

"I have repented my sins to the spirits ...I only read a small fraction of the Bible, I have learned by the hands of an angel, it kinda makes the latter obsolete."

-What spirits have you repented to? I was under the impression you only repent your sins to Jesus. If the spirits tell you that Bible is no longer relevant because you are talking to them then they are false prophets...Check out
1 Tim. 6:3-5

Also, Test the Spirits

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood." -1 John 4:1-6

"As it is of no concern to make one believe in God"

-Yet Jesus tells Christians that they should go into all the world and tell them about him. Which makes me wonder, who are you getting your information from. Someone told you about God, now you are telling me to forget everyone else.

"You are speaking to a Prophet whether you choose to believe it or not!"

-What have you predicted?

Kharakov
06-25-2004, 05:30 AM
"You are speaking to a Prophet whether you choose to believe it or not!"

-What have you predicted?

Well, someone, someday, predicted that there would be false prophets (of course sent from God).

campbell34
06-25-2004, 05:09 PM
No, false prophets sent by the devil.

campbell34
06-25-2004, 09:39 PM
-I'm sorry you feel this way, but most Christians are happy to share their experience about God-they look for opportunities. You seem to want to keep it all to yourself. You claim that you are a prophet, so what have you predicted. I would like to see that list. Remeber if it is not a 100% true then it is not the word that the Lord has spoken.

First off, if you are against what the Bible says then you are anti-Christian. Second, I am on the defense because I am one the few Christains that are actually in this Christian forum. I have to defend the Bible because most everyone on this forum is a against it. I only asked you what you believe because what you were saying was contradicting the Bible. As I first started reading your post, you seemed to have a grasp on the Bible and Christianity but as I read more of it you began saying things that contradicted the Bible such as:

"...those that install the FEAR of God! They are all WRONG to do so!!!!!"

But in Psalm 111:10 it says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom..." This is simply a contradiction between you and the Bible. People who take away or add things to the Bible end up in trouble. That is why I began to ask you questions to see what type of Christian you are or if you were one at all.

As what I said about Grace also comes from the Bible. However, you seem to make up your own way on getting to heaven and scratched out the Bibles. You claim that you were selected because you did not have much to repent. But it only takes one sin to go to hell and no spirit or angel can wash away your sins except for Jesus Christ. O yea we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

However, I do agree with you on somethings you hace said. For example, I agree with you on that post you wrote about that Texas women and her three children-it is a spiritual world out there! And we both agree that a person must seek God, but who will lead them there? God gave us freedom of choice. You can choose to tell people about Jesus or not. But remember Jesus said...

Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. -Mark 16:15

People who take away or add things to the Bible end up in trouble. This is where you went wrong for the Bible says...

"You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." (Deut 4:2)

This isn't a case of judging but dirrecting you onto the right path...

MidnightMoonlight,

"I will not give you any list! you simply do not deserve to see it!"

-Could it be you won't tell me what you have predicted because you have not predicted anything?

"I never said that I don't believe in the bible! where SHOW ME!!! Funny how you never answer those questions, now isn't it!"
What MidnightMoonlight has said...

-"ONLY THE RED IN THE BIBLE HAS DIRECT LINK TO THE WORDS OF JESUS HIMSELF!!!!!!!! THE REST IS NOT SIGNIFICANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I believe that the bible was written by the opinions of many people, thats why it is so contradictory! I really only read the versus in RED!!!!!!"

"I am not that big on quoting scripture, I have only read a small fraction of the bible, I have learned by the hands of an angel, it kinda makes the latter obsolete."

.... you cannot even remember what you wrote

.....you don't add things to the Bible you take them away....the black letters are just as valuable as the red letters

2 Timothy 3:16-17, which reads: "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that people of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

"I'm sorry but I did not find God through fear!!!!! I found him through LOVE and RESPECT OF LIFE!!!!!!!! and I cannot believe you think this is anti-christian! ....How in the world did I add anything to the bible HOW, WHERE, SHOW ME IN PRINT WHERE MY WORDS ARE ADDED IN THE BIBLE!!!!!!!SHOW ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
-I am not talking about how you found God. I am talkin about you denouncing people who preach the fear of God when the Bible clearly says those who fear God are wise. You say you believe the Bible but when I try to tell you what the Bible says I am either judging you or trying to manipulate you!

True Christians believe everything in the Bible is true you however deny almost everything in it.

"and manipulating words again WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER ME!!!!!WHY!!!!!! SHOW ME WHERE I SAID SPECIFICALLY THAT I WAS CHOSEN SOLELY BECAUSE I DIDN"T HAVE TO REPENT THAT MUCH!!!!SHOW ME!!!!!!!! I said cassually maybe, but you so fricken manipulative...

Midnightmoonlights words...

-"But I really didn't have much to repent, maybe thats why I'm chosen! You are speaking to a Prophet, I was born a prophet, of this I have no doubt, whether you choose to believe it or not!"

....yet again apparently you cannot remember what you wrote.

Funny I thought I was sharing me experiences!.... I think you might be the one that needs to be shown the light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Because I AM LIGHT!!!! I KNOW WHAT I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....I do not have to explain my beliefs to anyone!

-Jesus said we don't hide our light and we let it shine so that all people can see it and give glory to God... oh yeah thats in the red letters. Anyway, You say you are the light yet you hide it....what are you Mr. Contradiction

I love to debate you because it is so easy... you deny what you have said in the past... Altogether, you write one big contradiction with a lot exclimation points!!!!

The Higher Power is something inside all of us, and we will not find God until we find ourselves.

All I have to say is, that if you don't know God on a personal level, you should seek to, because it is one beautiful love filled experience that lasts a lifetime! You see Campbell has a right to believe what ever Campbell wants to believe, and you do to! But please, contrary to what Campbell would like to believe of me, is that reading the bible myself, particulary what Jesus has said in the bible, is the CORE of my beliefs! My God is no different from campbells God, as it is no different from anyother religions God, its only our perception of God that differs and as far as importance goes, our perception of God is not important, it is our belief that God exists which is!
I believe there is a god, but I think religion was only created to set people apart and individualize people based on class, status, and popularity. It's a great way to seperate us from one another. Rather than focusing on the concept of love, we have to give god a face and set it apart from others. My god is better, no my god is! Who gives a shit as long as that concept of that god is love?

While Religion is a great way to motivate people and inspire, it is also a great reason for many things like murder, war, and crime. I think religion is pretty dumb and is no different from a cult.

We flock to a certain place and worship a statue and a concept, give money, pray and go to camps to study that certain belief.

Jesus was either the ultimate liar or who he said he was-the son of God. All religions claim that they are the only way. Therefore, they are either all false or there is one that is true.

Wow. Where do you get the info for that?

First NOT all religions say they are the only way. To my knowledge only Christianity and Islam suggest this. That is becasue they assume they have their savior and anyone who disagrees must be going to hell. So perhaps all of them are right except these two? Even amoung these two, Islam recognizes the validity of Jesus' teachings, so it ends up being more tolerant (from a spritiual-idealism standpoint).

The tearm 'son of God' and 'sons of God' is used often in the bible. The later is used to describe anyone who is 'led by the spirit of God'. In addition Jesus is often referred to as the son of man. Why people decided to start worshiping him in the manner they do is a matter of historical record, but I think form his word it is clear that we are to worship none but the father. If you remove that element of Christianity then you are left with followers of Christ's teachings. I can't disagree with anything the man said so I wish there were more of these people around.

Hey popthree13 I did not forget the to questions I asked you that you never responded to...

Can you please explain these...
1. Messiah would be sold for 30 pieces of silver-Zech. 11:12

2. The Bible states that the Messiah would be the light to the gentiles. Who claimed to be the messiah and is now embraced by the gentiles but is rejected by the Jews?

"First NOT all religions say they are the only way. To my knowledge only Christianity and Islam suggest this"

All religions may not say dirrectly that they are the only way but they are that religion because they believe it is the right way. Unfortanetly, most religions contradict each other.

"...but I think form his word it is clear that we are to worship none but the father."
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

waht would you christians or other god fearing people do if it was found out that there WAS a god, but it was of a different religion? would you change your religion to that of teh rea god, or jsut become more faithful in your own believe, ahving seen proof that there IS a god? would fundamentalists then have wars over what the religion actually is, fuelled greater than other religious wars due to the physical evidence of god?

i hope u understand waht im asking.
There is no such God.

That is the problem you face.

Your own belief is based on a false foundation. So nothing can be concluded from that.

There is no separate God.

There is no separate person. Or you.

You only feel separate...but it is not true.

Do you see? No...you don't.

But based on your feeling (FEELING) of separation from God...your Mind has come up with a World that is illusory, and ...non-existant, as in a dream.

So then, based on that...what exactly is your question?

No other book that you are aware of has made you feel as close to God as the Bible. Umm, God could write another book for you--- actually just about everything makes me feel close to God... wait I mean everything. Although I do have preferences, designed to have a taste for certain things apparently.

Yup, somewhere in revelation it says those who worship the first creature (which christ says he is- the first and the last) will have war fought against them by the sons of God (which is mainly to turn their worship from the creature to the creator).

-NO, that is not what I am saying. No other book can compare to the Bible because the Bible has so much proof(prophetic, archaeological and scientifical). However, you probably would not know any of them because you never researched them. Like most people on this forum you make statements about the Bible when you dont even know the proofs of it. Instead you just go with the popular delusion that the Bible is false.

Shit, I read a few pages from the bible almost every day when I am not out hoppin parties. How am I gonna be a good soldier without eating? All I said is that God could write an even better book if God felt like it. You think what is good for a spiritual infant is what you are gonna be readin forever? Although, I admit an attraction to tits which probably has something to do with milk... so I do still read the bible a lot. More of a breast fixation than anything else. And I still watch cartoons. Hmmmm.....

Well, that is not a problem to me... I believe God is only one, you just have to give him a name so you can call him and talk to him better...I believe God is Love and He doesn't mind if I call him Jah or Alah... He is all about peace and friendship between people ;)

Kiss*
Well that sounds good. Yet the Bible tells us that there is no other name given to men to be saved but the name Christ Jesus. On the day we stand before Jesus Christ the names Jah and Alah is not going to cut it. And that is the reason Jesus will tell many. Depart from Me, I never knew you.

Campbell, I think you need to go back and reread.

In the passages in Matthew regarding the final judgment Jesus doesn't condemn those who use other names for God...rather, he condemns those who misuse his name:

Matthew 25:22, KJV

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

In these two verses, Jesus is clearly referring to those who perform supernatural works and misuse his name in taking personal credit for these.

Matthew 25:40-42, KJV

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

In these verses, Jesus clearly indicates that good or compassionate works, or lack thereof, for our less-fortunate fellows (and implies that not just faith) will indeed be part of the final accounting. He doesn't mention how the doers or nondoers refer to God.

I've read the entire chapter, so the context is clear.

Yes, and that would be your conclusion if you only read that part of the Scriptures. Yet to understand my statement, you must take a broader approach to the Scriptures. It clearly states in Acts 4:12, "Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." The Verse alone includes all who accept Christ as Saviour and excludes all that reject Christ.
John 1:11-12 He came unto His own (Jews) and His own received Him not. But as many has received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on HIS NAME." Those verse include all who receive Christ as Saviour and exclude all who reject Him. 1 Tim 2:5 states, For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the MAN CHRIST JESUS."
The Bible makes no room for any other names people like to slide in there. You have to look at all of Scriptures to understand it. Simply trying to formulate a belief system a verse at a time, will lead you in the wrong direction every time.

Campbell, from an overall perspective, I understand where you're coming from regarding God's name, and the verses you quote make that even clearer.

I was pointing out that in Matthew 25:22-23 that Jesus refers to the misuse of his name, not its overall significance...this was unclear in your previous post.

It's also interesting that in 25:40-42 he clearly indicates that works or lack thereof will be taken into consideration.

Works do count, but not for Salvation. Works count for rewards and punishment.
The thief on the cross had no works, yet Jesus said to him. Today you shall be with Me in Paradise. It was his faith alone in Christ that saved him. Those who serve God will be rewarded based on their works, and those who oppose God will be punished, based on their works.
