Hello folks. I just got back from W.V. & my understanding was that Ithaca was going on right after that. I also spoke to a lot of people going but figured it would be all over the Rainbow sites so I didn't get any details either. Any suggestions on where to look? Thank you family.

Mid-August is what I've heard, but I don't know how much they've looked into it. Maybe just scouting? A friend who I THINK was going to scout up with some others (was distracted and just caught bits and pieces) just e-mailed me and said there's no drinkable water.


Last time I was up in Ithica I was maybe 15, but I think they had to truck in water from off site then...

Don't spread this around as truth, just thought it might help someone ask the right questions later of someone who REALLY knows.

Get used to being confused if you want to go to gatherings. It takes a fair amount of confusion and a lot of faith to get there. Once you get there, though, it's all good. Most of the rumors are half true.

When you're looking for information, keep a few things in mind. Can you even find out who the source of information is, and do you trust them? How much do you trust the judgement of the person that the information is passing through? How realistic does the story sound?

Follow the rumors, and you'll get to a gathering eventually. With experience, you'll start to be able to weed out the rumors more easily.

Again, here is the situation as far as I know. Ithica family is organising a gathering for mid-late August. A bunch of kids headed there directly after the nationals, though, and are somewhere around Ithica right now.

Ithica family should have seen this coming. Organising a gathering that soon after nationals, that close to nationals. It's bound to attract early comers who don't know where else to go/hear the rumors about where the "next gathering" is and don't realise that the infrastructure won't be built for another month.

I met a lot of family at grassroots who were heading over to the national forest right afterwards, so there's definitely folks there now. One couple told me august first was the semi official start but i believe there's plenty of folks there right now, I'm heading up this saturday for a night, unfortunately I can't stay more due to work...grrr... broke up my weekend, but I will be at Musefest Labor weekend so hopefully I'll run into more family there. Anyone have any ideas of anything in dire need of foodwise? I work at a natural food shop and could bring up some goodies ;) Lovin' ya's ~~have fun and show up, it's definitely goin' on :) hope to see some of ya'll there~~ I'll be the girl with dreads and a green batik halter on, sleepin in a red vw bus... lol..... i'm sure I'll stand out but if by some chance you do recognize me come say hello and let me know you're a fellow hipforums junkie ;) peace*

The gathering was n'er intended actually . NY Rainbows were only going to potlatch and plan a regional gathering for NEXT YEAR . But , oh well . It's happening and the momentum is irresistable as always . August 13 is the announced start date . Oh , ya , and there were six dreamers who dreamed one dream of a nuclear bomb going off during the the time of the next NY gathering . I guess it's this year and not next as originally scheduled . OK, 2 functioning kitchens and a cafe. 350 gal water tank @ front gate, 800 gal water tank coming to back gate. (Voorhees Rd? Near Foster Pond, anyway.) No focus to the Scattering, other than gettin' fnuked up (Weed Run took preceedence to water run yesterday) and stealing flags.
