I had a different poem up so the title of the thread isnt the title of this poem.
It's for my baby son a little after he was born.

The room glows at night
when you smile in your sleep
your little hands untouched by touch
I watch your chest rise and fall
to make sure we may both breath
there is nothing selfish
or judgemental about you
you just ARE
you tech me how to BE
without things to make me happy
pure life without restraints
sleeping after a long day of play
how precious your new skin is
so soft
unchafed by the wind of life
and as you came into my world
I to grew new skin
becoming a new person
I will give up everything for you
to give you everything
and you will show me without words
that you love me
when the room glows at night
as you smile in your sleep

this reminds me of my nephew. whenever i think of him i don't see him as he is today, but as he was the first time i held him, and then after, when he shared my room. how he'd sleep and dream his little baby dreams and breathe the softest, smallest breaths... and whenever i get angry, or say something about someone without considering where they are coming from i remember that we were all just like that once- completely free from doubt and judgement. we were all innocent once.

these words convey such love, that can only be felt between mothers and fathers and the people they invite into this world to forever expand and enrich their lives... it's so amazing to watch people actually bring out the courage and the energy it takes to love each other and their children that deeply... beautiful. simply beautiful. this is what we live for.

Sweet, almost syrupy, but touching poem.
