I would like to know if the people here use condoms when giving a blowjob. I have read all the health reports and know about the statistical risks of unprotected fellatio but want to see what people here actually think and practice in real life.

Situational; of course, I haven't ever performed fellatio, but it would be situational as to whether or not I wanted to use a condom.

i never use a condom when giving head. it spoils the flavour of cock imo. my doctor told me once that the chances of sero converting this way are fairly remote, especially if u pay attention to ur oral hygiene. i don't swallow the come however. nor let it spurt directly into my mouth. i like sucking on a cock until he comes, letting him come and then smoking him with come dripping off his cock. very sexy 4 me.

No, I don't use a condom either. I'm another guy who doesn't swallow. I also try to avoid letting the guy come in my mouth and prefer finishing by hand.

From what I've seen in medical items carried in the Advocate, swallowing doesn't pose a significant additional risk especially if you already take it in your mouth. The virus apparently is destroyed by stomach acids in a matter of seconds, whereas it can persist in the mouth for a couple of hours and it can enter through open sores in your mouth. But it's not like the flu virus which can go through your digestive tract intact.
It's interesting to note the contrasting advice given by the American government vs. most western European governments even Britain. Most European governments actually advocate oral sex as a MUCH safer alternative to anal. American government advice seems to be based more on uptight Puritan codes than on legitimate medical evidence (big surprise, eh?). And they wonder why nobody really believes it.

It is also notable that in most gay porn today, they do use condoms for anal but still perform oral sex without it.

Even before anyone had heard of AIDS, I didn't swallow because I didn't like the taste. I don't like the rubbery taste of condoms either. There are some flavored condoms out there. The taste is better than plain rubber, but the experience of giving head through a condom remains unsatisfying. It's not just a matter of taste, but texture.
If I really thought a guy "had something," I probably wouldn't do anything with him even with a condom. I know about condoms and safer sex and how the risk factor would be lower, but I just wouldn't be able to enjoy it. It's all in my head, but that's a lot of what sex is about.

I do know that it feels weird and itchy all over to be wearing a condom when someone else is giving me head, and I don't like the taste of latex when giving it to someone else. I do like the taste of cum and I swallow. Been swallowing for over 25 years now, 10 of those years while living in San Francisco, and I'm still negative (I get tested every two years as a precaution).

I've never given head with a condom. I'm like the rest of you,I don't like condoms. ALthough I do use them during casual sex. But even when you're pumping away you can smell "burning rubber" lol. So smelling that or even the thought of just sucking something with latex wrapped over it would defeat the purpose & be a total turn off. I like the texture & feeling of a rock hard dick between my lips. However I don't swallow. I guess I am scared of getting something. I do fantasize about having a cum shoot on my tongue but I'd rather take a cum facial. Just hold my head back & have him ooze it all over my face. I'm still kinda nervous about that too! lol

I agree with everyone else. Condoms smell and taste gross. I would never suck a cock that has a condom on it, and it is even unpleasent to suck a cock that just had a condom on for anal or vaginal sex. I like to suck bare cock and I almost always swallow because it tastes good. If your going to have cum in your mouth it makes no difference weather you swallow or not. Also, if your aware of any open cut or sore in your mouth it is a good idea not to suck cock until it heals.

i love sucking cock and using a condom would just ruin it, the smell is bad enough let alone taste! i'm seeing just the one guy at the moment and he's disease free as i'm the only man he's ever had, but before i was fortunate enough to meet him i would hand out blow jobs like nobodys business and i'm fine. i'm not into one night stands anymore though.
i agree with whoever said that sucking a cock that's just had a condom on makes for a less pleasurable experience too.
Jacob.

I don't ever use condoms when giving head.
I just think it sort of defeats the purpose. I don't engage in anal or any other high-risk sexual activity. . so I don't feel bad tempting fate a bit with the whole swallow issue.
I don't necessarily like the taste of cum, but I definitely love the feeling of a big swollen mushroom head throbbing against the roof of my mouth while they're all flailing and screaming and crushing my head in their thighs.
Yeah, I'm horny right now. . or else that post would have just said "No I don't" LOL

i've only recieved felatio from a male once (in my adult life) i didnt use a condom and i did end up with clamydia (sp). i also knew and trusted the guy, sooo, just keep that in mind next time you're giving a stranger head.
also, well over half the cases of clam go unnoticed. i only showed signs for ONE day, and only ONE time during that day, and the signs never reoccured, but i got checked out anyways and thank god i did. sooo, to all of you who think you're clean, keep that in mind too :p

No condom for me. Agree with everyone else that it ruins the experience. Also with swallowing...it your sucking a cock, than your at equal risks to get a disease as if you swallow. So if you just don't swallow because your scared, there is no need to be.

ok heres some safety tips on this subject and hiv.
1) never clean your teeth before giving oral sex to someone you are unsure of or you know has hiv, again it is a small risk, but the virus could enter the blood stream through bleeding gums- use mouth wash instead.
2) it would seem that swallowing and spitting present fairly small risks, just don't keep the cum inyour mouth for too long, because of possible cuts

Even if you swallowed semen that has hiv/aids in it, there is no chance of becoming infected.
As stated above, the only way one can transmit hiv/aids through oral sex is if they were to have open wounds in the mouth. Otherwise there is no risk.
However, i'm not advocating oral sex without condoms.
Personally, I would never give head to a guy if he had a condom on.

Out of curiosity, how dangerous really is performing or receiving oral sex without a condom? Before I had left for college I went to ask my doctor about it, and he said that I should always wear a condom during it, as should my partner. Personally, I don't see the merit in oral sex with a condom. Is it really that dangerous in terms of health? I mean, I know that you can contract HIV, but isn't that only when there are open sores in the mouth?
ShadowShifta
08-22-2007, 06:48 AM
I'll add another question, 'cause im curious to know the dangers myself. But i'd imagine there are more risks if one 'swallows'. so what are they?
Please still answer PresidentialScandal's question too.

Look, for safety's sake, when blowing someone you don't know, it is best to wear a condom even if it doesn't feel as good. But if you're with a partner who you love and trust, then not using a condom is fine :)
As for your question ShadowShifta - I'm guessing that swallowing is pretty safe for the most part. One's stomach acid would burn those poor little spermies to bits and you'd probably just excrete the remains. Maybe if one has an ulcer it would be unadvised, but I think it would be okay
mushie18
08-22-2007, 05:49 PM
There is no risk of contracting hiv from giving oral sex and swallowing.
However, you can contract hpv, gonorrhea, herpes, etc.
It's a choice you have to make. Obviously wearing a condom is the absolute safest.
Personally, I don't hook up people I don't know. I create a relationship first and then if things work out they work out. Sooooo I don't use condoms while having oral sex. It's stupid, but it works for me.

if you have a cut in your mouth and a guy cums into it, there is a chance the virus will go straight into your bloodstream, thats why its recommended that if you think you'll be in a situation where you will be practising unprotected oral sex on someone you don't know or someone you know has the HIV virus you use mouth wash and don't brush your teeth, as brusing can cuase gum damage.

FROM www.aidsmap.com
How risky is oral sex?
When is oral sex more risky?
How can you reduce the risks?
Historically, it has been very difficult to establish the contribution oral sex makes to overall HIV transmission since few people engage solely in oral sex. Instead, many people also have vaginal or anal sex, which are recognised routes of HIV transmission. Though there have been a number of cases of apparent HIV transmission via oral sex, health professionals have tended to prioritise HIV prevention efforts in the areas of greatest risk. This strategy may have inadvertently down-played the risks attached to oral sex, and left some individuals confused over risk reduction options.
How risky is oral sex?
The likelihood that HIV is transmitted from an HIV-positive person to an HIV-negative person depends on the type of contact involved. HIV is most easily transmitted by unprotected anal sex (that is, without condoms), unprotected vaginal sex, sharing injecting equipment, and from mother to baby.
Oral sex has been shown to be a less risky activity than these practices, but is definitely not risk free. ItÍs also worth remembering that other sexually transmitted infections, such as syphilis, herpes and gonorrhoea, can be quite easily transmitted through oral sex.
In the past few years a number of studies have been published on the risks of HIV transmission from oral sex. One American study reported that of 122 gay men with HIV, 8% reported oral sex as their only risk activity. However, some of the men in this study who initially said oral sex was their only risk activity subsequently admitted having unprotected anal sex. A recent study didnÍt find any cases of oral transmission of HIV over a ten year period in over 100 couples where one partner was HIV-positive and the other HIV-negative. Another study from the US found involving gay men found the risk to be effectively zero, but didn't exclude the possibility of there being a risk. The UKÍs Public Health Laboratory Service estimates that between 1% and 3% of HIV cases may be due to oral sex.
When is oral sex more risky?
You are at more risk of passing on HIV through oral sex if you have an untreated sexually transmitted infection. You are at more risk of being infected with HIV from oral sex if you have cuts, sores or abrasions in the mouth or on the gums, or if you have an infection, including sexually transmitted ones, in the throat or mouth which is causing inflammation.
Viral load testing suggests that traces of HIV can almost always be found in semen. Having high viral load in the blood may also mean that viral load is high in the semen. The reverse is not necessarily true: even if viral load in the blood is undetectable, it may not be so in semen. Therefore it is not safe to assume that taking anti-HIV therapy always reduces the infectious potential of semen, or protects sexual partners.
The levels of HIV in vaginal fluid vary. They are likely to be highest around the time of menstruation (having your period), when HIV-bearing cells shed from the cervix are most likely to be found in vaginal fluid, along with blood. Oral sex will therefore be more risky around the time of menstruation.
How can you reduce the risks?
There are several ways to reduce the risks of oral sex. Naturally, some will be more acceptable than others to different individuals, so you must make your own decisions about the level of risk you find acceptable. If you would like to discuss these issues, ask to see a health advisor, or other health professional, at your treatment centre or genitourinary clinic. Many of the strategies below will also provide protection against other sexually transmitted infections:
You may decide that the risks of oral sex are low enough for you to continue your regular behaviour.
You may prefer not to have oral sex because you do not wish to take even a low risk of HIV transmission.
You may decide to reduce the number of partners with whom you have oral sex.
You may decide to have oral sex with barriers such as condoms for sucking men or ďdental damsÍ (latex squares) for sucking women.
You may decide only to have insertive oral sex (being sucked) as this appears safer than receptive oral sex (sucking).
You may decide not to ejaculate into your partnerÍs mouth or not to have someone ejaculate into your mouth.
You may decide to avoid oral sex with women during menstrual periods.
Look after your mouth. The likelihood of oral HIV transmission increases if one has bleeding gums, ulcers, cuts or sores in the mouth. DonÍt brush your teeth or floss before oral sex.
Take regular sexual health screening. This will identify if you have any sexually transmitted infections, which may increase the likelihood of you transmitting HIV to a negative partner, and reduce the likelihood of you contracting HIV if you are HIV-negative.

I've been monogamous for a while now, so (thank God) we don't have to use condoms anymore, but if we were to bring in a third person now, I'd use a condom for oral.
In my sluttier days, I knew perfectly well that there was some risk...but I never used one anyway. Sigh. I do think the risk is minimal, but it was still foolish of me.
BattleMoose, what I've heard is that there's basically no chance of you getting HIV from receiving a blowjob. I can't say that 100% confidently though, so anyone who knows more should feel free to chime in!

MollyBoston

Hekc, I'm not sure there are any documented cases of anyone getting it from giving head. It's just that it seems possible.
Treyola: while that's true, many of us have small wounds in our mouths that we don't even know about - gum disease, ate a stale baguette, bit our lips while having sex the other day, whatever - so it's not enough just to say "I haven't spat blood recently so I'm okay". You can't really be sure there are no cuts at all in your mouth.

Okay, I just recently gave head to a complete stranger and we did use a condom. It was weird. It was kinda hot in a way, because using a condom was a constant reminder that it was a complete stranger who had his cock in my mouth - but it was pretty weird, too. I suspect I'm lucky he was turned on by the thought of a strange girl sucking him off or it would've taken him way longer to cum. And my favorite part of giving head is when the guy cums in my mouth, so that was a serious bummer. I mean, I could still feel it when he came but obviously I couldn't taste it or swallow it.

I can't imagine using a condom while giving head. While I have not had the oppotunity to suck any dick for a long time. I would want the full favor of a cock without a condum. As far as swallowing the cum. The feel of warm cum squirting into my mouth excite me, and I like the taste. And, it's a good source of proten. <(^o^)>

If I had to suck dicks through a condom, I'd sooner get a bratwurst out of the fridge and suck on it.

I'm fairly new to this whole subject, however, I have given four blow jobs so far and I have to admit that I haven't used a condom. I never even thought of using a condom. I like the way the warm skin feels against my lips and I like the way the pre-cum tastes when they get all wet. What's the use in giving a blow job when you can't fully pleasure him. I like the way he gets when my soft wet mouth slides down his hard shaft. You know you're doing a good job when he grabs you by the hair and pulls your head closer to his cock.

Yup.
I love hooking up for sex. I have got neither interest nor time nor energy needed to explore the other dude's health status. And frankly, I do not feel that a BJ is worth going through any of the medical troubles these days.
So far only about 1/5 of the guys, who were about to blow me refused to do so when I put the condom on. That's perfectly fine with me and I completely see their point. Yet, I am responsible for my own health and well-being.
Besides, they make them with flavours for a reason, too.

No way, it is amazing how the cum rushes into my mouth and sticks everywhere there, and how does it feel to swallow it when it gets a bit cold in your mouth

I would like to know if the people here use condoms when giving a blowjob. I have read all the health reports and know about the statistical risks of unprotected fellatio but want to see what people here actually think and practice in real life.
The idea of using a condom when I give oral sex is completely alien to me as love the taste, smell & texture of cum. I can't even imagine sucking a guys cock, then spitting out his cum, or wasting it any other way.;)

I like the taste of cum so I always swallow but I'm very careful about whose cock I suck.

I don't use a condom, usually. It spoils the taste, and you can't really "snowball" with your partner if you use a condom.
