So what do you guys think? Are the buds ready for the taking?

I've been trying to read up about the timing of your harvest and it seems that the best advice I've been able to find is in Ed Rosenthal's growing guide, he says to harvest when about half of the stigma's (the little hairs, i think that is what they are called) are brown and withered. Well, I'm REALLY close to having about half of the hairs withered, but the plant just doesn't seem to be as "full" as it should.

Any ideas?

How "full" a bud ends up has a lot to do with environmental factor's such as medium, nutrients, temps, ventilation, etc., and if they were sexually mature when 12/12 was induced.
You can harvest invidual buds as they reach the stage E. Rosenthal mentions.

The red hair trick can vary with different strains.
The best bet is to wait until you see many glandular stalked trichromes, stems with little balls on them. Those balls are clear at first- then they get cloudy, then they turn amber. When they are amber the couchlock is apparrent.
But if you let more than 30% of the "trichs" turn amber- your quality will begin to degrade, and the trichs start deteriorating.
Most people let 10 to 30 % of the gladular trichs turn amber.
There are other shaped trichromes, these are not a concern as much as the stalked ones.
this is a way better way to judge harvest timing.
