Ecuador Grants Julian Assange Asylum!
Despite threats by the UK government to broach the Ecuadorian Embassy's sovereignty to seize him, Ecuador has finally granted Julian Assange asylum.
Now the UK government says they will not let him leave the country. So it looks like Assange will be taking up residence in the Embassy right under the noses of the UK government. Sweden and the US are no doubt not happy about that because both governments want to prosecute him as the founder of Wikileaks and trumped up charges of rape.

Makes you really wonder why the UK government has to flex so much muscle over this alleged rape case. They getting so much flak from Uncle Sam over this that they are willing to create an international diplomatic incident??
Apparently they might even revoke the diplomatic status of the embassy just to get to him ....

Fucking awesome.
I hope ecuador is ready to do some shooting to defend their territory..... you can't just revoke the sovereignty of an embassy in a time of diplomatic troubles, that's exactly why there are embassies in the first place!
I'd like to take this time to point out that if anyone is looking to vacation in south america, ecuador is deserving of it.

I think helicopter flights to embassies are pretty common, and no biggie. Also not sure that you can blockade the embassy of a peaceful nation and it's officials and guests without it being seen as warlike aggression.
But of course, britan is no stranger to wordwide aggression or as of late, being US toadies.

apparently they are not allowed to search a diplomatic vehicle, so there are many theories that he will be driven out of the country and flown through a neutral nation.
