Radioactive Radioactive Tuna Caught Off California Coast

May 30, 2012 - Researchers are startled to find Bluefin Tuna have not been able to flush out all the radioactive contamination from Fukishma. It was previously thought that the nuclear fallout would not linger in huge fish that sail the world because such fish were thought to be able to metabolize and shed radioactive substances.

Supposedly, it should be okay to eat these Tuna, even though the radioactive Cesium levels are 10 times higher than those in Tuna caught off the California cost in previous years.

Quote:
To rule out the possibility that the radiation was carried by ocean currents or deposited in the sea through the atmosphere, the team also analyzed yellowfin tuna, found in the eastern Pacific, and bluefin that migrated to Southern California before the nuclear crisis. They found no trace of cesium-134 and only background levels of cesium-137 left over from nuclear weapons testing in the 1960s.

The results "are unequivocal. Fukushima was the source," said Ken Buesseler of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who had no role in the research.

I would be wary of the tuna as well.

They also have reports of debris on the coast of Alaska. Lots of it. Some hazardous.

Just had some tuna steaks last night...

Cooked in coconut milk & lime juice with some cardamom. Yummy!

And today I'm giving off a delightful glow! :0)

I liked what they said on TV, "Lots of things we eat are radioactive!"

I think all restaurant menus should now include the amounts of each type of radioactivity along with the list of ingredients.

I'm gonna get me a Geiger counter soon.

Be wary of fish in general--especially the ones higher in the food web. I'm sure they're healthy naturally, but mercury has been found in fish all over the world, and radioactivity doesn't help...
