Facebook Sued for $15 Billion for Illegally Tracking Users
Facebook is having a great day today! Their company went public, raising $16 Billion from the IPO today.
However in another move, Facebook users filed a $15 Billion lawsuit against the company claiming that Facebook tracks users browsing even after they have logged out of the site.
This lawsuit combines 21 different suits against Facebook.

Facebook tracks people across sites -- everywhere you see their "Like" button, your browser has hit their server(s) to retrieve it. They're not unique in this; Google is another very well known example, via their advertising and "+1" button.
If you delete only HTTP cookies, you're still being tracked.
A pretty good rule of thumb: If you're not paying for the online product (and often when you are), you are the product.

ABOUT TIME!
And Mark Zuckerberg deserves all the criticism that gets thrown at him. I'm not someone who likes to judge, but I can't see him as anything other than a spoiled sell-out. He'll regret it one day....

Yeah it is a love/hate relationship and just as I learned with MySpace - you can walk away from it. In fact, I never liked FB at first but when MS self-destructed (by making 'improvements' that no one wanted and that slowed my computer down to dialup speed) all my cyberfriends went to FB where I have been hanging out. MS is just a ghost site now. I don't even know if anyone works there anymore.
Then the FB bastard techies started changing things just like they did at MS and there was a lot of complaints. I think they slowed that shit down but my computer frequently freezes up while I am in foto albums. (maybe they will lay off the techies and it can float without change for a while).

Sucking on a dummy placebo of imaginary friendship

And don't forget these AKA's I've conjured up: ForceBook, FarceBook, FartBook... Anyhoo, when I finally decided to get off FB(i), I requested a download of everything I'd posted. (It's key to add here that I religiously deleted all my posts every few months.) But guess what? It was still all there! ...the whole 9 yarons; the entire 18 months of loneliness, during which I was caught in a social vacuum sucking on a dummy placebo of imaginary friendship. What really bites is when you have lived a while as an idea person & you realize you are spitting out some of your best epiphanies into the public domain. Remember when writers had something called 'writers' block'? Well, no no more, he-haw! I realized when I was doing my thing on Venice Beach why 85% of Santa Monica (down the beach) as listed as being Artists. They are journalists & TV & Hollywood Script Writers & that is their free 'think tank', so when they need an idea, they just stroll down the beach & steal one... I can't do the subject justice. Privacy is Dead. FaceBook killed it.

Does anyone remember the video clip where Mark Z was asked about those who aren't on Facebook and he replied, "Oh, they'll join soon enough", then gave an evil laugh with a smirk on his face.
