It's funny that both Jehovah and Jesus are fans of wabi-sabi: The former prevented Moses from making an altar of hewn stone, and the latter said that the stone which the builders rejected, the same would become the head of the corner.
So the only reason why this notion has not existed in European aesthetics is that art and religion has nearly always been strictly separated in Europe.

It is curious that almost every Eastern idea becomes purely idiotic when transplanted into the Western soil. Why, for example, should you " follow the stream" in case you don't have the slightest desire to arrive at its destination, even though it is easier than the way you crave for?

I very much love the idea that if you divided the whole Torah into words in a different manner, you would receive the full list of the names of God.

Years ago I was perplexed by the fact that the Hasidim who, at least in a certain sense, could be considered as radical iconoclasts, didn’t simply throw this book away. But the Jews chose the opposite way: already in the first centuries A. D....

The weirdest thing about banks is that the tellers always suppose all customers know what exactly they need in there, whereas the customers assiduously pretend they do truly know, and this is the only reason why banks still exist.
