Sometimes you need a very stout heart to read some of the reports in the news. Torture, rape, cruelty to animals, social and sexual injustice - the list goes on. It is important to remember though that the world we live in is a beautiful and awe inspiring place. Lets leave aside the fact that it is being raped and pillaged by unscrupulous governments and conglomerates and remember the beauty that can be seen all around if we only take the time to look for it. I'm not talking about areas of outstanding natural beauty, world heritage sites or anything - I'm talking about simple stuff like birds singing in the morning, a small child smiling, in fact anything that brings joy to your heart and a feeling that it is good to be alive. These things cost nothing! Simple pleasures! We would all do well to remember that life is a gift and make the most of every day. Live in the moment!
