For a couple decades Iran was ruled by a ruthless tyrant who happened to be a shill for the US and GB whose interests in the region was and still is its native resource. If our leaders were at all concerned about how a country's citizens are being treated by the rulers we'd be involved in a whole lot more areas than just where the oil is. The plight of a people is just used to garner support for what is almost certainly an illegal violation of sovereignty whose true purpose is resource conquest and likely indirect price manipulation through the purposeful maintenance of instability so the speculators can dutifully bid up its price so the greedy fucks at the business end of the puppet strings can get even richer.
This response was a tangent from the amalgamated KONY thread where the discussion veered into US foreign policy... and showed by the nature of that response how regular, otherwise intelligent folks can have their perceptions skewed by the volumes of propaganda whose purpose is to build support for interference with sovereign countries on false premises
If our leaders gave the slightest DAMN about human rights things would be far different here. The only reason things aren't worse than they already are is that we're still reaping the benefits of a couple generations that paid closer attention to what their governments (particularly local) were doing and questioned further justification for decisions that cost taxpayers money.
The whole premise for the original video seems to be that-- look over there- see how bad those people have it--- they should be freeeeee like Americans... distract the American monkeys from what's at work right here within our own borders. The professional quality of the piece reflects some influential endorsement of the effort to demonize and distract people right here. News flash to the distracted monkeys whose heart strings were predictably pulled by the purposeful inclusion of children crying bitterly as a result of the desperate conditions created by the evil deeds of the 'Bad guy, Joseph Kony who makes innocent children kill their parents" -- your rights to demonstrate against your own criminal leaders has been under siege. That's right, the premise that life in the United States is some utopia of freedom is increasingly becoming a fallacy- so look over there, monkeys... looklooklooklooklooklook... keep looking- keep allowing yourselves to be distracted.

Have we not discussed ad nauseum the government/facebook link? Clearly the gatekeepers if (mis)information want this "grave issue" to get out there to permeate the public consciousness. The building discontent with affairs here needs to be vented so let the monkeys release some outrage at "not us" because the CHILDREN
over there (look look look!) deserve to have it as good as we do over here. *pause for the laughter to subside*
Meanwhile, back at the ranch a freakishly equipped and oddly well networked supposedly leaderless and grassroots protest phenomenon called Occupy has performed quite nicely a provocative theater of purposefully civil disobedience performed by a few conspirators and a whole slew of useful idiot walk-ons-- bringing a list of "demands" reflecting an attitude of entitlement as seen by non-thinking fundamentalist Christian brainwashed couch denizens to cultivate avid support for legislation that stems the ability of those "dirty hippies" to just take over public parks and government buildings instead of taking a shower, getting a haircut, and finding a job (good luck with THAT one!). Yet that very same legislation abridges everyone's
right to protest and combined with other acts signed (despite presidential promises not to) essentially paves the way for ANY American to be detained indefinitely without charge based on no more than mere suspicion which could boil down to the judgement of a single police officer... but take heart, there's no such thing as rogue police offers... right? HA-HA. Concurrently, the dreadful threat to internet security as ably demonstrated by Anonymous seems a shoo-in to build support for curbing internet access and to justify the "right" of an increasingly dominant central government to "allow" us access to what is deemed by bureaucrats and corporate puppet masters to be appropriate content.
So monkeys... keep looking over there... KonyKonyKonyKonyKony.... looklooklooklooklook
- because we want the people over there to have it the way we have it -right? I'm guessing is that the plan is for us to meet them half way.
Before we concern ourselves with what's going on half way around the world perhaps we should make damned certain that we are actually setting the standards of freedom and personal liberty as the propagandists want us to unquestioningly accept as a given. Remember, what's given can very easily be taken away. It's so easy to do that most here do not realize that it is exactly what the corporate fascists are doing through their government puppets.
