I am So proud of my daughter !

I only get to see her a couple times a year. She is in the Air Force.

Anyways, she was telling me today how she was visiting an old school friend while she is near home. Her friend from school turned 18 a couple months ago and had been living with her grandma for a couple years because of an abusive father in law. When she turned 18 her grandma kicked her out and she has been homeless for a couple of months now. So, my daughter was telling me how she took...

I AM !

I'm been wondering lately, thinking, I should be like those people I know that abuse the system, they have so much thanks to all the social programs available that they "qualify" for. For example:A couple I know. I've seen them waste horrendous amounts of food because they get over $800 (US dollars) a month food stamps. They pay $60 a month rent on a 4 bedroom house thanks to welfare. Then...

I've been working on a set of animal totem medicine cards for a couple of months now. Mostly using my own Intuition, and information from Ted Andrews Animal Speak and Animal Wise books. good stuff there in my opinion. I also have pdf's of Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams.

however, I was working on making my own deck and trying to keep it manageable. so far it iss 67 cards, kind of on the big side but I think manageable. Also this was the year I was born. (happy coincidence). I have about...

I think or sometimes feel that my bubble is to small. Meaning, my circle of friends lately seems rather limiting to me. Wheres the adventure I wonder ? The fun ? the excitement ?

They all seem way too entangled in the humdrum of things. Their negativity is way to contagious, it's caustic, it burns, it hurts. The last couple of weeks I have really been struggling with these feelings of negativity and depression. The places I normally go to and the things I normally do to combat these...

I'm looking to be heading out doing some traveling for the summer by walking maybe biking. As I get older seems harder for me to want to travel alone.

Any Ohio adventurers around looking for a travel partner ?
Or any adventurers traveling through Ohio wanting a travel companion ?

Not really looking to go anywhere in particular, except check out a commune or two along the way. Mostly camping out along rivers living on the cheap as possible side of life. Do some geocaching along the way...

three good things for free today:

3: A free book in the mail from my favorite book trading site . Mother Earth Spirituality by Ed "Eagle man" McGaa

2: I found a really old knife in the middle of the road while on my daily bike ride. It looks to be old high carbon steel, the wood handle was smashed to bits. I made a new handle for it today out of Osage. I also made a leather sheaf for it. I'll probably post a picture of it later.

1: Most importantly and best of all. My daughter...

In my opinion, Joseph Campbell was sheer brilliance. One of my all time favorite books is "The hero with a Thousand faces". I recently have reread parts of it and this one part really struck home.

This bothers me.

The Heroes Journey: Refusal of the Call: "Refusal of the summons converts the adventure into its negative. Walled in boredom, hard work, or 'culture,' the subject loses the power of significant affirmative action and becomes a victim to be saved. His flowering world becomes a...

I came across this in the book I am reading. Lame deer: Visions of a Sioux Medicine Man. I was trying to explain a thought I had a couple of months ago to a friend, about, how everything in nature knows its place and is what it is. A turtle knows it is a turtle and does what a turtle does, it doesn't try to be anything other than what it is. He doesn't try to fly like a bird because he's a turtle and not a bird. My friend couldn't understand this concept. Maybe I didn't explain my thoughts on...
