I feel really disjointed when it comes to that part of the world (that with which one might associate a keffiyeh). I wouldn't wear one because I feel like it's a step in the wrong direction. It seems a bit extreme. I'm definitely for diversity as opposed to xenophobia. But it's terrifying that we are being threatened by attacks on our own soil. My point is that wearing a keffiyeh, in my mind, is a solidarity with the wrong elements. I say "in my mind" because I'm admittedly ignorant (as I believe are many many Americans) about Muslim or Arab or wherever keffiyehs are worn culture.
