Can you believe they see the poppy as a political thing?

It's a reminder of the past, hang your heads FIFA!

If England and Scotland, and now Wales come together on wearing their black arm bands on the 11th November, why can FIFA not allow it!

I think this ban on the poppy is yet another foolish bit of PC. I really can't see any real reason for it. I can see why FIFA would want to forget their own past.

= Ridiculous - The Poppy is a symbol of Respectful Remembrance of those who strove for Peace Not as to advocate War
I seem to remember that it was a football match in 1914 that was instrumental in providing a respite in the conflict.
Who are FIFA ? A governing body of a -Sport
To my mind, - ear it with pride and reverence - and let FIFA do what it has to do!
Ban England and Scotland from World Cup Competition? Ban English and Scottish teams from European competitions? (thought was UEFA?)
    - Good luck with that

Never got the black arm bands tbh. Trying to remember someone or something with a dark ass depressing color. When I die! I want everyone to wear bright metallic purple armbands. I'd do rainbow but the general acknowledgement would be because that's because I'm gay. Which I don't want to be remembered for like who cares who I want to spend my life with? So no rainbows please. Just purple arm bands and head bands. :)

Personal/Individual choice is one thing Irminsul, however, one has to take into account those veterans of yesteryear that were active, saw, lived and survived with the scars that will never heal - "lest we forger"

FIFA's full of shit, as usual.
They focus on the least important stuff, when they have bigger things to address and take care of.
They are ruining it for everyone.

In the grand scheme of things FIFA is nothing anyway..
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

I can't believe there will be anyone in the UK that will support FIFA on this.

Remembrance Day, November 11th, is universally supported. I was helping to sell poppies in my local supermarket yesterday afternoon, and the number of people who bought or simply put money in the collecting tins,(many of them notes!) was incredible to see. Toddlers, school kids, teens and young adults especially, were supportive. It was wonderful to hear people's stories, especially those from the generation that lived through the war. Made me feel quite proud and a little emotional!

Let the boys wear their poppies, nasty old FIFA!!

I could go on and on with this thread but the top and bottom of the whole affair is that the people running FIFA are gobshites; complete and utter gobshites.

I can't understand why obese people watch FIFA. It would be better for them to go and play soccer themselves.

Maybe you should read the topic Alise69?
It has nothing to do with the PC game but the Sport / Less to do with the activity and more to do with the Management (or rather mis =management) of a date of reverence and remembrance

There is the problem, this issue is never brought up. It is in sports in general. Sports is killing our mother nature.

Well I think as fans, of football, and out of respect for the fallen of all wars, there should now be some kind of protest, by us, to the government and FIFA!

I'm going to check this out! Wolf if you see anything, can you keep me posted please?
