Has anyone dealt with ovary pain after menopause? I'm 56 so I'm assuming I'm post menopausal. I had my uterus out in 2000 so there's no way for me to know. Anyway, for about 24 hours I've been getting an intermittent, very sharp, quick, stab-type pain. It happens a couple of times an hour. It hasn't moved so I'm not thinking it's gas.
I failed to mention the location is very low and definitely on the right side. I've had UTIs a plenty and this is different. Also, it's not appendix because I've had that out.
Well I think it's best you have it checked, take no chances..but I think your ovaries are probably not where you think after having a hysterectomy, go see your Dr Hun..
They often do not remove the ovaries so it is possible they are still able to cause sensations. If it continues for long period of time or becomes really uncomfortable you probably should see about it.
After a partial hysterectomy the ovaries do tend to relocate a bit. It is possible to still develop ovarian cysts, which are typically not dangerous. If you continue having pain that you cannot manage with OTC meds, heating pad, etc. it might be time to talk to your doctor. There are many possible reasons for you to be in pain, or feel discomfort in the general area of your ovaries. One possibility is that after surgery there may have been scar tissue that has built up over time, and it is pulling. Again, this is not dangerous so much as annoying and uncomfortable. If you had endometriosis, it could be causing problems. Are you on hormone replacement therapy of any kind?
