i suspect that may have been the point. i love most natural creatures. human somewhat less.
the question here is to what extent did he actually have respect for the psychology of non-humans.

 

Never met him, so I couldn't tell you what his character was like, but he seemed like a good chap. I do not understand this whole "missing a person that has had no actual real and present effect on your life" bit though.

 

If they're an influence on your life, then it's going to hit you.

There hasn't been anybody that's died yet that's made a big impact on my life, but there will be when they do pass and I'm sure I'll be effected by it somehow, if only for a day.

 

People who are highly influenced by TV personalities are either moronically impressionable or painfully gulliable.

 

And people who complain about people enjoying things are painfully idiotic

That moment wasn't legendary, no. But his other antics have him almost immortalized. He taught a huge understanding of animals to people who really didn't care, but his personality was enough to win the hearts of the world.

Oh yeah and he also got parent of the year award ....

 

And yet, he still won the hearts of the world.
