I have a combi microwave and mostly use the oven settings. But I wouldn't like to miss the microwave options, they're pretty convenient at times.

I don't have one, but when I did I pretty much only used it for popcorn (with cheese, so good)

I haven't had a microwave in a few years either. It can be a pain in the ass waiting 20 minutes to reheat food in the oven sometimes but it does taste a lot better

I never got around to buying a microwave

All I'd ever do with it is defrost things

i sometimes think about buying myself a good new one. i could easily afford it.
the place where i live came with one. like most things it came with its kind of crummy and screwed up.
(it works though, and i cook literally everything in it)

not the fault of the place. (yes it was the cheapest one they could find, but for an obvious and very good reason)

most of the people who come and go here are kind of hard on stuff and don't really care about the result.

i know i should move into a real apartment, but i'm discouraged from doing so for a number of reasons:
one is the prospect of having more and quite probably inconsiderate neighbors, being further from as many convenient bus stops,
having to pay as much or more for the dubious privilege of living someplace superficially more 'respectable',
and most of them demanding either a credit rating (i don't use credit. i see it as a form of indenture) or an income three times what they want for rent.
(i could probably do that too, but have a kind of psychological allergy to the stress of the idea of having to).

I'd probably be better off without my microwave. I often wake up in the middle of the night craving microwave lasagna or pizza, and I usually give in to the temptation. But damn it tastes good. [IMG]

I'm suprised that there isn't some idiot in this thread talking about how microwaves damage your parenal gland and how they're a part of a major masonic electronic conspiracy to control out precious bodily fluids or whatnot.

so lol'ing true. but when they were new, resteraunts that had them used to have to post warnings to people with pacemakers. maybe they still do, though i haven't seen one of those signs in ages.
they do after all, use microwave radiation to cook with. relatively low power and well shielded. the cooking space itself a tuned cavity matched to the wavelengths of the magnitron tube that generates them.

no 'conspiracy' of course. microwaves have been used as point to point communication links since even before there were satalites to bounce them off of. and before that, well the first microwave ovens were called radar ranges, because radar was after all, the first, as far as i know, use of those frequencies of electromagnetic energy.
