Around 3:30am I heard these two load bangs by the road in front of the building where I work. The noise was similar to a garbage truck emptying a dumpster and then setting it back down, but louder. I happened to be near a window at the time and I could see debris flying down the street in front of the building. I quickly grabbed the flash light at the front desk and ran towards the road. When I ran out of the building I saw and smelled smoke coming from the direction of where whatever happened was (I assumed it was a car accident but wasn't really sure). When I got to the sidewalk, I saw there was a black pickup truck in the yard of one of the neighboring houses which had its front end completely smashed in. I ran over to the vehicle and shined my flashlight in the window, and there was a black guy who was semi-conscious who had a big gash in his head which was bleeding pretty bad. The truck was smoking pretty badly and I was worried it might catch fire, so I attempted to open the door but it appeared to be stuck shut due to the impact. There were people there who were calling 911, so I decided to just step back and wait for the firetrucks and ambulance to get there, which they did a few minutes later. It turns out the guy smashed into a garbage can, a sign, a light pole (which was knocked down), and a tree before coming to a halt in the front yard of of this house. I am guessing the guy was shitfaced. According to the news, he is in guarded condition. The impact must have been really hard because there was debris from the truck scattered for quite a large distance, including all the stuff that was in the bed of the truck (tools, etc.) Well, that was some excitement for one night. You have to be very careful about moving someone who has been in an accident. Moving a person with a spinal injury can cause paralysis.
Yeah, there was a video of a wreck around here that apparantly went viral because the car flipped and about a dozen or so bystanders helped flip it back over. Everyone was praising them for being good samaritans but ugh the video makes me cringe, you can see the guys body bounce up and down in his seat when the car flips
at least he didn't run over anybody. we hope. maybe he had a stroke or an epileptic seasure. those happen too. or fatigue. lots of people have to drive to keep their job when they should be asleep.
Plus, they can sue the shit out of you later. People are dicks. Don't risk your life and freedom to help someone who's mangled up in a car crash. Call 911, step back, and let the professionals do the dirty work.

Unless the car/truck was actually on fire and the risk of death was imminent, don’t try to remove the victim from the vehicle. leave it to the pros. Hotwater
People do what they think will help in an emergency situation. If I thought the truck was going to catch fire, their airway was compromised or that the person was bleeding badly enough, I would probably try to remove them too.
