    That's what terrorists want.

They want us to be terrified.

If you are, and you change the way you enjoy life, then they've won. Haven't they?

I'm concerned at certain events too but for the sake of my grandchildren I will go down fighting for the freedoms we enjoy.

Oversaturation of news has been proven to cause anxiety.

I've always had a very vague, general anxiety unrelated to current events, but I control it. It doesnt get out of hand. But the other morning I woke up very early and started thinking about all the horrible shit in the world, how I live in my bubble but truly horrific things that happen to other people every day could just as easily happen to me. And I had a full blown anxiety attack like i've never had before. I almost had to call in sick to work but managed to c alm myself down eventually.

So I did a detox for about 72 hours. No news, no internet, hipforums, social media, etc. And I felt a lot better. Sort of.

I think it is a good idea to be aware but there is no reason to allow world events to control your life. Disaster probably will hit one day but why allow the potential for it ruin your life in the now?

Don't play into their hands... Being worried is exactly what they want.

But DO pay attention to the world at large... and what is happening right outside your door.

It was nice when I didn't read, listen to, nor watch any news.

i can see road from here, or at least something that is technically considered a road for mapping purposes. to me, it looks like a strip of dirt full of giant sinkholes, and if you look deep enough in the sinkholes you can see some of what appears to have been pavement back around the time pavement was invented. so, i do kind of worry about whether the city is ever going to spend money on maintaining the city, or if they're just going for that post-apocalyptic vibe.

Wouldn't that be to give these attackers what they want - martyrdom?

No deterrent for any crime in the Uk!
Even a sentence is halved before they leave the court!
But yes, the case should have been enough, and there it almost happened again!

Forget them! The victims are what matters, if they are hanged! It's shameful

It also matters how we deal with the culprits. Not because of them, but because of everyone as a society.

I'd put them in waist deep shit, on their heads, and give them a 10 minute break every 2 hours.

What I meant was I don't care if they feel good or bad about being hanged, do it for the victims! The families, stuff them!

If we brought back hanging for these people, it would mean we descend back into barbarism which is what we say we are fighting against.

For us to modify our culture in response to terrorism is exactly what the terrorists want. And the death penalty won't deter them at all.

I don't believe in capital punishment either, just sometimes, some crimes are so evil, do we want the victims and families to pay taxes to keep, and feed them..
So many people killed in explosions, I'm beginning to believe this world is better off without terrorists, sorry bill, but I'm losing faith in our justice system..

Of course the world is better off without terrorists but just killing them is not the best solution. Just the easy one :p And if some of those people really believe their terrorist death will get them in heaven with all sins forgotten isn't it a much better message to other terrorists that they will sit in prison for maybe 60 years (most terrorists seem not older than 30) before they go there :p

Unfortunately for the families and friends of the victims this is a societal problem and we can not only think about them when sentencing the culprits.
